The number of fireworks seized by Nghe An police during the Lunar New Year accounts for more than 1/3 of the whole country.

On February 19, speaking to Nghe An Newspaper reporters, Colonel Nguyen Huu Cau - Director of Nghe An Provincial Police said that this unit has just finished a campaign to carry out a peak period of attacking and suppressing crimes, ensuring security and order before, during and after the Lunar New Year. This peak period lasted 3 months, from November 15, 2018 to February 15, 2019.

However, according to Colonel Cau, before that, since August 2018, Nghe An Police had proactively advised and directed the issuance of a plan to promptly deploy solutions to prevent and combat violations related to fireworks before, during and after Tet (2 months before the direction of the Ministry of Public Security). In addition, Nghe An Police also deployed plans to launch a peak period to ensure traffic safety and order; fight against black credit crimes... in advance.

During the peak period, Nghe An police seized 7.3 tons of fireworks, while the total number nationwide was 20 tons.

During the 3 months of peak implementation, Nghe An Police discovered and arrested 2,469 cases, 3,754 criminals and violators of the law on social order and safety. Of which, the whole province had 251 cases of crimes against social order, down 12 cases compared to the same period last year, down 14 cases compared to the previous 3 months. Investigated and discovered 319 cases, arrested and handled 362 criminals against social order. Of which, 218/251 cases were investigated and clarified, reaching a rate of 86.9%, while the annual average rate of the Provincial Police reached 82 to 83%.

Regarding fireworks, the head of Nghe An Police said that during the peak period, this unit discovered and arrested 700 cases, 824 subjects illegally producing, trading, transporting, storing, and using fireworks, and confiscated 7.3 tons of various types of fireworks. The amount of fireworks seized in Nghe An accounted for 36.5% of the total confiscated in this peak period (20 tons were seized nationwide). Typically, there were some cases where the police confiscated nearly half a ton of fireworks, transported in containers from the border.

Regarding drug crimes, during the peak period, Nghe An Police arrested 352 cases, 399 subjects, and seized nearly 70 kilograms of various drugs. Among them, many large, transnational drug trafficking and transportation cases were broken. Typically, Vinh City Police presided over and coordinated with Department PA06 to break the 118H case, arresting 3 subjects, seizing 2 heroin cakes, 1.3 kg of crystal meth, 8,000 synthetic drug pills, and 1 gun; Vinh City Police coordinated with Nam Dan Police to break the 128M case, arresting 1 subject, seizing 3 heroin cakes, 14,000 synthetic drug pills; Department PC04 and Thanh Chuong Police presided over and coordinated with PA06 and PA02 to break the 118H case, arresting 1 subject, seizing 8 heroin cakes, 4 kg of crystal meth, 3,000 synthetic drug pills, etc.

With outstanding achievements, Nghe An Police was commended by the Ministry of Public Security in all 3 reports on the situation and results of the peak of crime suppression during the Lunar New Year 2019 with 31 commendations. Along with that, 20 groups and 2 individuals were commended. In addition, the People's Committee of Nghe An province also commended 25 groups and many individuals.
