The 50kg bomb, about 70cm long, was discovered last November at a hotel construction site in downtown Naha.
The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force successfully defused the bomb's fuse. The mission was completed safely within 40 minutes. The bomb is believed to have been dropped by a US fighter plane during the Battle of Okinawa in 1945./.
