The Departments of Justice of Nghe An and Xieng Khouang provinces signed a cooperation agreement.

On the afternoon of August 2nd, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation was signed in Vinh City between the Department of Justice of Nghe An province and the Department of Justice of Xieng Khouang province, Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Attending the ceremony on behalf of Nghe An province were Mr. Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives from relevant departments and agencies, and leaders of districts bordering Vietnam and Laos. On the Lao side was Mr. Soun Thone Phanh Mi Xai - Member of the Provincial People's Council - Director of the Department of Justice of Xieng Khouang.

At the ceremony, both sides announced some aspects of their respective judicial work and approved the draft Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation. Having agreed on the content of the agreement, both sides will continue to build a judicial cooperation relationship based on the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States, and the people of Vietnam and Laos.

Strengthening the exchange of learning experiences on organizing and implementing the resolution of arising legal issues; enhancing people's understanding of the laws of both countries; organizing and providing advice on the registration of de facto marriages between Vietnamese and Lao citizens; conducting surveys, classification, and handling nationality issues for citizens of both countries in border districts of Nghe An province (Vietnam) and Xieng Khouang province (Laos).

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Le Xuan Dai, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized: Nghe An has a border length of 419 km, with 27 border communes in 6 districts bordering 3 provinces of Laos. The signing of the memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two Departments of Justice of Nghe An and Xieng Khouang is a significant activity in continuing to build, strengthen, and cultivate the friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States, and peoples of Vietnam and Laos, as well as the good friendship and cooperation between Nghe An province and Xieng Khouang province.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his hope that after this signing ceremony, the Departments of Justice of Nghe An (Vietnam) and Xieng Khouang (Laos) would exchange experiences, learn from each other's best practices and new models, thereby improving judicial work and ensuring the sustainable development of bilateral cooperation.
