Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports invited B Ray to work on the case of false statements.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports said that it had strictly reminded B Ray to continue to improve the artist's sense of responsibility towards the audience in performing activities as well as behavior in public places.
On the afternoon of September 5, at a regular press conference held at the Ho Chi Minh City Press Center, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports responded to the incident in which rapper B Ray had written misleading articles in the past.
According to the representative of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, after receiving information reflecting on the controversial statements on the internet of rapper B Ray (real name Tran Thien Thanh Bao), the department had a meeting with B Ray and representatives of the authorities. At the meeting, B Ray presented the incident that occurred in 2015 and 2016 while he was abroad, because at that time he did not fully understand, so he made a distorted statement.
The authorities further informed that after B Ray returned to Vietnam, he was invited by the authorities to work to discuss and clarify related contents. After being discussed by the authorities, the male rapper realized that his previous statements were incorrect, offensive, and made his personal image not good in the eyes of the audience; at the same time, he proactively deleted the content posted on his personal page.
"The Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City has strictly reminded Mr. Tran Thien Thanh Bao to continue to improve the artist's sense of responsibility towards the audience in performing activities as well as in public behavior, comply with legal regulations and codes of conduct for artists to preserve the good image of the artist," said the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City.
Based on the State management function of activities and information on cyberspace, currently the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City is coordinating with relevant agencies to continue reviewing and taking specific measures when detecting arising problems.
Previously, rapper B Ray was "called out" on forums and groups on social networks when netizens "dug up" a series of his inappropriate statements in the past. Many people were upset that the male rapper had posted, shared images, and made controversial statements. On August 27, through his personal page with 1.8 million followers, rapper B Ray posted an apology to the audience for his shallow and wrong thoughts and actions in the past. According to the male rapper born in 1993, since returning to Vietnam, he realized that what he had done before was wrong. B Ray said he had proactively worked with the Ho Chi Minh City Police from June 22, 2022 to admit his past wrongdoings and have clear ways to correct them. In addition, B Ray also proactively deleted articles and songs with deviant content in the past on all official platforms managed by him.
