After the victory over Hai Phong in the 13th round, Song Lam Nghe An surpassed this opponent to rise to 12th place in the V-League 2024/25 rankings. That victory not only helped coach Phan Nhu Thuat's team have more chances in the relegation race but also increased the confidence of Nghe An players in the next stage.

In round 14, Song Lam Nghe An will meet Binh Duong again - the opponent who helped this team get the first victory of the season. That will be a spiritual support for coach Phan Nhu Thuat's students to aim for a favorable result in the competition at Go Dau stadium.

In particular, in this match, Song Lam Nghe An will also be supported by a strong fan base in the South. This will be the motivation for the Nghe An team to enter the field with high determination.

And to realize the fans' expectations, coach Phan Nhu Thuat arranged the team with not many changes compared to the victory over Hai Phong in the previous round.

Among them, the highest player on the attack line is still striker Kuku. Below this player, as usual, is Dinh Xuan Tien. The 4 midfielders of Song Lam Nghe An include: Van Bach, Quang Vinh, Long Vu and Manh Quynh.

The defensive quartet is: Vuong Van Huy, Van Khanh, Zaracho and Tran Dinh Hoang.

Despite having the home field advantage and being rated higher, Binh Duong could not take the initiative over the away team. Even if Dinh Xuan Tien or Tran Manh Quynh had handled the final situations correctly, it is very possible that the goal would have come to Song Lam Nghe An.

After being somewhat surprised by the away team's style of play in the first few minutes, Binh Duong began to regain control of the game and launched some sharp attacks. In the 16th minute, Minh Khoa received a precise pass from his teammate, and then he launched a beautiful volley, but the ball went wide of the goal.

Not stopping there, in the 25th minute, from a pass from Vy Hao on the left wing, Tien Linh rushed down and shot diagonally, but the defender of Song Lam Nghe An successfully blocked it.

In the final minutes of the first half, Binh Duong put pressure but could not find the net of goalkeeper Van Viet. Therefore, the first 45 minutes ended without either side scoring a goal.

Entering the second half, in order to change the game situation for the home team, coach Phan Nhu Thuat decided to send Ho Van Cuong and Olaha onto the field to replace Manh Quynh and Kuku.

While this substitution had not yet taken effect, Song Lam Nghe An conceded a goal in the 55th minute of the match. The home team's goal came from Olaha's wrong pass, Minh Trong stole the ball and passed it accurately to Tien Linh in the penalty area. The striker wearing the number 22 shirt fired a one-touch shot past goalkeeper Van Viet, opening the score for Binh Duong.

After conceding the goal, Song Lam Nghe An decided to push up their formation to find an equalizer. And in the 60th minute, Olaha put the ball into the net after a cross from Long Vu. However, the referee did not recognize the goal because he thought that the midfielder wearing the number 38 shirt was in an offside position.

While Song Lam Nghe An still could not find an equalizer, they continued to receive a counterattack from the opponent. In the 72nd minute, Trung Hieu quickly escaped down the right wing, then passed the ball low into the penalty area for Minh Khoa, who was not marked by anyone, calmly handled it and then curled the ball into Song Lam Nghe An's net. Initially, the referee denied the goal because he thought Trung Hieu was offside, but after consulting VAR, he changed his decision. The score was doubled for Binh Duong.

In the final minutes of the match, Song Lam Nghe An tried to push forward to find an equalizer. And coach Phan Nhu Thuat's students found Binh Duong's net. Van Luong brought the ball into the penalty area and Olaha missed his shot but accidentally gave Khac Ngoc the opportunity to unleash a dangerous shot, leaving goalkeeper Minh Toan helpless.

However, this was also the final score of the match between Binh Duong and Song Lam Nghe An.
