Following their victory against Hai Phong in the 13th round, Song Lam Nghe An overtook their rivals to climb to 12th place in the V-League 2024/25 standings. This win not only gave coach Phan Nhu Thuat's team a better chance in the relegation battle but also boosted the confidence of the Nghe An players for the remainder of the season.

In round 14, Song Lam Nghe An will face Binh Duong again – the opponent that helped them secure their first victory of the season. This will be a morale boost for coach Phan Nhu Thuat's players as they aim for a favorable result in the match at Go Dau Stadium.

In particular, in this match, Song Lam Nghe An will be further fueled by the strong support of their fans in the South. This will be a driving force for the team from Nghe An to take to the field with high determination.

And to fulfill the fans' expectations, coach Phan Như Thuật fielded a lineup that remained largely unchanged from the victory against Hai Phong in the previous round.

In that lineup, striker Kuku remains the furthest forward. As usual, Dinh Xuan Tien takes care of the defensive duties behind him. The four midfielders for Song Lam Nghe An are Van Bach, Quang Vinh, Long Vu, and Manh Quynh.

The defensive quartet consists of: Vuong Van Huy, Van Khanh, Zaracho, and Tran Dinh Hoang.

Despite having the home advantage and being considered the stronger team, Binh Duong was unable to take the initiative against the visiting team. In fact, if Dinh Xuan Tien or Tran Manh Quynh had been more accurate in their finishing, Song Lam Nghe An could very well have scored.

After being somewhat surprised by the visitors' style of play in the opening minutes, Binh Duong began to regain control of the game and created several sharp attacking opportunities. In the 16th minute, Minh Khoa received a perfectly placed pass from a teammate, and he unleashed a beautiful volley, but the ball went wide of the goal.

Not stopping there, in the 25th minute, from a pass by Vy Hao on the left wing, Tien Linh raced down and took a diagonal shot, but the Song Lam Nghe An defender successfully blocked it.

In the final minutes of the first half, Binh Duong put pressure on the opponent but couldn't find the back of goalkeeper Van Viet's net. Therefore, the first 45 minutes ended without either side scoring a goal.

Entering the second half, in an attempt to change the course of the game for his team, coach Phan Như Thuật decided to bring Hồ Văn Cường and Olaha onto the field to replace Mạnh Quỳnh and Kuku.

Before this substitution could have any effect, Song Lam Nghe An conceded a goal in the 55th minute. The home team's goal came from a misplaced pass by Olaha; Minh Trong intercepted the ball and passed it accurately to Tien Linh in the penalty area. The striker wearing number 22 unleashed a one-touch shot to beat goalkeeper Van Viet, opening the scoring for Binh Duong.

After conceding a goal, Song Lam Nghe An decided to push their formation higher to look for an equalizer. And in the 60th minute, Olaha managed to put the ball into the net after a cross from Long Vu. However, the referee disallowed the goal, ruling that the midfielder wearing number 38 was offside.

While Song Lam Nghe An were still unable to find an equalizer, they suffered another counter-attack. In the 72nd minute, Trung Hieu sprinted down the right wing, then delivered a low pass into the penalty area to Minh Khoa, who was unmarked. Minh Khoa calmly controlled the ball and curled it into the net. Initially, the referee disallowed the goal, deeming Trung Hieu offside, but after consulting VAR, he changed his decision. Binh Duong doubled their lead.

In the final minutes of the match, Song Lam Nghe An pushed forward in search of an equalizer. And coach Phan Nhu Thuat's players found the back of the net against Binh Duong. Van Luong sent the ball into the penalty area, and Olaha missed his shot, but inadvertently gave Khac Ngoc the opportunity to unleash a powerful shot, leaving goalkeeper Minh Toan helpless.

However, this was also the final score of the match between Binh Duong and Song Lam Nghe An.
