Chiến thắng bất ngờ 2-1 trước đương kim vô địch Thép Xanh Nam Định được ví như một “cơn địa chấn” nhưng nó xuất hiện phần nhiều nhờ sự cộng hưởng của may mắn, sự xuất thần của vài cá nhân và một ngày sa sút bất thường của đối thủ. Còn nhìn tổng thể, lối chơi của Sông Lam Nghệ An quá dễ bị bắt bài với những pha phối hợp đơn điệu, thiếu sự sáng tạo và gần như không có triết lý rõ ràng.
