The Sony FX5 is a powerful upgrade from the FX3, featuring a 5K60p sensor, support for open-gate anamorphic recording, and an expanded ISO range, meeting the demanding standards of professional filmmakers.
Sony has officially introduced the FX5 (model number ILME-FX5), the newest member of its Cinema Line for professional filmmakers. This is a significant upgrade from the FX4K model released in 2021, offering 5K60p video recording capabilities from its 18.2 MP Exmor RS full-frame sensor.

The core highlight of the Sony FX5 is its 35mm image sensor, capable of providing a dynamic range (latitude) of over 15 stops in S-Log3 mode. To optimize image quality in various lighting conditions, the camera is equipped with a Triple Base ISO system with base levels of 800, 4000, and 12800.
Combined with the BIONZ XR2 image processor, the FX5 incorporates AI-powered noise reduction technology. Dual-gain recording capability extends the ISO range from 320 up to a maximum of 409,600. Notably, the camera supports open-gate mode when using Sony's E-mount anamorphic lenses, allowing for maximum utilization of the sensor area.

The Sony FX5 features a hybrid autofocus system with 759 phase and contrast detection autofocus points. Thanks to a dedicated AI chip, the camera can recognize and track subjects such as people, animals, and birds with high accuracy, even when the subject is moving quickly.
In terms of stability, the device is equipped with a 5-axis in-body optical image stabilization (IBIS) system. When combined with Dynamic Active Mode (digital image stabilization), handheld footage becomes significantly smoother.

In terms of storage, the Sony FX5 supports recording compressed Sony X-OCN 16-bit RAW files to SDXC or CFexpress Type A memory cards via two card slots. Users can monitor the frame via the 3.5-inch multi-angle LCD screen (2.76 million pixels) or the optional 0.58-inch OLED viewfinder with 7.07 million pixels, capable of tilting 90 degrees.
The FX5's audio system is also a highlight, featuring 4-channel recording at 96 kHz, 32-bit float. This technology ensures that the sound remains undistorted and clipped even in environments with sudden changes in sound intensity.

As a dedicated device, the FX5 supports timecode synchronization and operates via both wired and wireless networks. It features a LAN port, two USB ports, an HDMI port, and Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) connectivity. Additionally, it supports 4K RTSP livestreaming directly over the network.
