1- Myanmar President visits Vietnam

At the invitation of President Tran Dai Quang, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Htin Kyaw and his wife will pay a State visit to Vietnam from October 26-28.

Vietnam and Myanmar have a long-standing relationship, many similarities in culture and religion, and both countries are currently members of ASEAN. The Government and people of Myanmar have always supported the Vietnamese people in the two struggles against French colonialism and American imperialism, as well as in the current cause of national construction and defense.

In 1947, Vietnam established an Information Agency in Yangon, which was later upgraded to a Government Representative Agency in 1948. Up to now, the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Myanmar has continued to be consolidated, with many substantial and effective developments and many important achievements.

2 - Continuing the 2nd Session, 14th National Assembly

Delegates attend the working session of the 2nd session of the 14th National Assembly on the morning of October 27.

On October 24, National Assembly deputies worked in the hall, discussing the draft Law on Property Auction; some contents of the draft Law on Belief and Religion still have different opinions.

October 25, Report on explanation, acceptance, and revision of the draft Law on Associations and discussion of some contents with different opinions of the draft Law.

On October 26, discussed the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Penal Code No. 100/2015/QH13.

On October 27, the National Assembly discussed the Law on Foreign Trade Management. On the afternoon of October 27, National Assembly deputies worked in groups, discussed and gave opinions on the draft Law on Legal Aid (amended) and the draft Law on State Compensation Liability (amended).

On October 28, the National Assembly listened to the Government report on anti-corruption work in 2016.

3 - Opening of the Mekong World Economic Forum

On the afternoon of October 25, the World Economic Forum (WEF-Mekong) opened in Hanoi. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and delivered a speech.The Prime Minister warmly welcomed leaders of countries, businesses and delegates to attend WEF - Mekong.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the Mekong region is a dynamic development center in Asia with many economies growing rapidly thanks to accelerated reform and international integration. This region is an important connection point in Asia and a potential market with a population of 240 million people and a GDP of over 660 billion USD.

However, the Mekong region is facing many challenges. The development gap with other ASEAN economies is still large, the advantage of low-cost labor is gradually decreasing, and climate change is happening faster than predicted...

Through this WEF-Mekong conference, Vietnam hopes that Mekong countries and businesses will dialogue with WEF businesses on ideas and measures to strengthen public-private partnerships, develop business and investment cooperation to bring benefits to all parties.

4 - The 18th International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties

On October 28, the 18th International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties opened in Hanoi with the participation of more than 100 delegates representing communist and workers' parties from all continents of the world.

The International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties was established in 1998. Over the past 18 years, the Meeting has attracted the participation of more than 120 Communist and Workers' Parties from 85 countries around the world, becoming an important forum for Communist and Workers' Parties to exchange information, share experiences and strengthen cooperation and coordinate actions for the common struggle. This is the first time the Communist Party of Vietnam has hosted this Meeting.

Speaking at the opening of the Meeting, Mr. Hoang Binh Quan, member of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central External Relations Commission, warmly welcomed representatives of Communist and workers' parties of various countries to attend the Meeting in Vietnam.

5 - Disciplinary warningformer Minister of Industry and TradeVu Huy Hoang

Former Minister of Industry and Trade - Vu Huy Hoang was proposed to be warned.

At the 7th session (from October 17 to 21), the Central Inspection Committee concluded that the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the 2011-2016 term had violations and shortcomings, including lack of responsibility, lax leadership and direction, and violations of Party and State regulations on personnel work.

The Central Inspection Committee concluded that the above violations by the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Mr. Vu Huy Hoang caused serious consequences, affecting the reputation of the Party, the State, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Mr. Vu Huy Hoang personally, causing outrage in society.

The Committee proposed that the Secretariat take disciplinary action in the form of a reprimand against the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the 2011-2016 term; warn Mr. Vu Huy Hoang; and at the same time request relevant units to urgently review and discipline violating organizations and individuals; and revoke and cancel wrongful decisions in personnel work.

6 - Train accident in Thuong Tin (Hanoi): 6 people died

The accident occurred at around 5:20 a.m. on October 24, at a railway crossing in Van Giap village, Van Binh commune (Thuong Tin, Hanoi). A car with license plate 30A-602.25 crossing the railway in the above area was hit head-on by a train heading towards Hanoi.

The accident left four people in the car dead at the scene, three others were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. One of the three victims rushed to the hospital died on the way, and another died shortly afterward.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent condolences to the families of the victims and visited the injured, and asked relevant agencies to urgently investigate and clarify the cause of the accident.

The Ministry of Transport has also issued a telegram requesting to strengthen traffic safety and order at intersections between roads and railways, focusing on building automatic barriers, speed bumps, completing the system of service roads, isolation fences, and signs.

7 - Nearly 600 people escaped from drug rehabilitation camp, causing chaos in Dong Nai

At 11pm on October 23, 600 students at the Dong Nai Drug Rehabilitation Center (Xuan Phu Commune, Xuan Loc District) escaped together. They rushed out onto Highway 1, causing chaos and blocking traffic. Some students were said to have caused trouble and robbed people.

During the night, the authorities deployed a search and arrest plan and set up checkpoints to ensure safety. By 1 a.m. on October 24, security in the area had been restored. Authorities brought some students back to the camp.

This rehabilitation center belongs to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Dong Nai province and has a capacity of 600 students. However, the number of students here is now double.

8- Three sailors kidnapped by Somali pirates have returned home safely.

On the afternoon of October 25, three Vietnamese sailors kidnapped by Somali pirates four years ago returned safely to Hanoi.

The three crew members are Phan Xuan Phuong (born in 1989, from Nghe An), Nguyen Van Ha and Nguyen Van Xuan (both born in 1981, from Ha Tinh) - who had participated in labor export to Taiwan and were unfortunately arrested.

The three sailors kidnapped by Somali pirates all said that, although their living conditions were very harsh, they were fortunately not beaten.

Previously, in February 2012, the Taiwanese fishing vessel FV Naham 3 was captured by Somali pirates in the Seychelles archipelago (Indian Ocean). On board were crew members from China, the Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Taiwan and Vietnam.

9 - Prosecution of the murderer of the wife and children of Chau Duc District Party Committee officials (Ba Ria - Vung Tau)

Suspect arrested after hiding in Ho Chi Minh City

On October 27, the Investigation Police Agency of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province prosecuted and detained Chau Minh Nhan (20 years old, from Vinh Long) for 4 months for the crime of "Murder and robbery".

To commit robbery, suspect Chau Minh Nhan brutally murdered the wife and children of a district official.

The victims were Mrs. Pham Thuy Nga (49 years old) and Pham Duc Toan (17 years old), the wife and son of Mr. Bui Xuan Thuong (54 years old) - Head of the Mass Mobilization Committee, Standing Committee of Chau Duc District Party Committee (Ba Ria - Vung Tau).

During the investigation, suspect Nhan admitted that because he needed money to spend, he stole property from Mr. Bui Xuan Thuong - Head of the Mass Mobilization Committee of Chau Duc District Party Committee (Ba Ria - Vung Tau).

10 - Trinh Nhat Minh won the championship of The Voice Kids 2016

After nearly 4 months of broadcasting, The Voice Kids 2016 has come to an end with the finale taking place on the evening of October 29. From thousands of children, the coaches and the audience have chosen the 4 best faces to compete in this final competition night, namely Nhat Minh (Dong Nhi - Ong Cao Thang team), Mai Anh (Noo Phuoc Thinh team), Milana and Thuy Binh (Vu Cat Tuong team).

Young Trinh Nhat Minh has conquered the audience through two excellent performances, especially the excerpt of the ancient Cheo - a traditional cultural art form that not every singer is capable of performing. His powerful voice, dynamic and versatile performance style and ability to play musical instruments have helped Nhat Minh win the hearts of the audience and brought him to the highest position of The Voice Kids 2016.
