At the invitation of President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of Cuba Raul Castro, on the evening of November 14, President Tran Dai Quang and his wife, along with a high-ranking delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam, left Hanoi to pay an official visit to the Republic of Cuba from November 15-17.
On this occasion, the leaders of the two countries will discuss and agree on directions and measures to strengthen bilateral relations in the new development stage in each country.
In a speech to the press of both countries at Jose Marti International Airport, President Tran Dai Quang expressed his emotion when visiting the free, beautiful, heroic and hospitable country of Cuba. Even though he had just set foot on the airport, he felt like he had just returned home, meeting relatives he had not seen for a long time.
Concluding his official visit to the Republic of Cuba, at the invitation of Peruvian President Pedro Paplo Kuczynsky, President Tran Dai Quang and his wife will attend the 24th Summit Week of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum held in Lima, Peru from November 17-20.
2 - British Prince William officially visits Vietnam

On the morning of November 16, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, arrived in Hanoi, beginning an official visit to Vietnam and attending the Third International Conference on Illegal Wildlife Trade on November 17.
Shortly after arriving in Hanoi, Prince William met with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh. According to Kensington Palace, the Prince believes that Vietnam has a real opportunity to be a leader in wildlife conservation and is looking forward to discussing this when he meets the Vice President and Prime Minister of Vietnam.
On the same day, Prince William will meet with traditional medicine experts, several celebrities, representatives of non-governmental organizations, representatives of the art world, and the business community in Hanoi.

This is the first time Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has answered questions before the National Assembly as head of the Government. Previously, as Deputy Prime Minister, he had answered questions many times authorized by the Prime Minister.
As Deputy Prime Minister in the previous term, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also answered questions many times under the authorization of the head of the Government at mid-year meetings. Most recently, at the 9th session of the 13th National Assembly in mid-2015, he received many questions from the East Sea issue to public debt, transport infrastructure, river encroachment in Dong Nai or the situation of civil servants "carrying umbrellas".
This session, the contents that delegates can question Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc are in 10 groups of issues for the 4 ministers selected to speak (Ministers of Industry and Trade, Natural Resources and Environment, Education and Training and Home Affairs). Many contents have been brought up again and again in previous questioning sessions such as anti-smuggling, hydropower dams releasing floodwaters, management and exploitation of natural resources and minerals, education reform programs, etc.

In the atmosphere of the National Great Unity Day, many localities across the country solemnly celebrated the 86th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2016). Many leaders of the Party, State... attended and shared joy on the National Great Unity Day in some localities.
On the morning of November 13, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong attended and shared in the Great National Unity Day at the residential area of Phat Tich village, Phat Tich commune, Tien Du district, Bac Ninh province. Here, the General Secretary reiterated Uncle Ho's teaching that "The Front policy is an important policy in the entire revolutionary work" and affirmed the important role of the Fatherland Front in the current revolutionary period.
On the evening of November 17, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and shared joy with the residents of residential areas No. 1-2-10-11 in Dien Bien Ward, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi. In a friendly conversation with the residents, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hoped that the Front organization and the residents of the Ward would actively pay attention and contribute ideas to Party building, and participate in the management and administration of the State so that this task becomes increasingly more realistic and effective in practice.

5 - Opening of the International Conference on Combating Wildlife Trafficking

On the morning of November 17, in Hanoi, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh attended the opening session of the 3rd High-Level International Conference on Combating Illegal Wildlife Trade.
Also attending were Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Sonsay Siphandone, Prince William of the United Kingdom, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Yury Fedotov and nearly 100 delegates, representatives of leaders of intergovernmental organizations and international organizations.
In his opening speech at the conference, the Vice President emphasized that preventing illegal trade in rare wild animals and plants is a global issue. To effectively protect wild animals and plants, the international community needs to have a comprehensive approach, focusing on and implementing synchronous solutions such as: Perfecting institutions, laws and effectively enforcing laws; eliminating illegal consumption markets, implementing campaigns to reduce and eliminate illegal consumption of wild animals and plants; developing regional livelihoods for communities living in nature reserves and enhancing international cooperation and coordination.

The 2016 Vietnam Talent Awards Ceremony took place on the evening of November 19, at the Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace. This is the 12th year of the award, aiming to encourage and honor talents in the field of information technology - communications, along with the fields of science and technology, medicine, environment, talent encouragement...
The 2016 Vietnam Talent Awards in the IT field awarded: 2 First Prizes, each worth 100 million VND, to InfoRe Technology Joint Stock Company with the product "SMCC social network interaction management and semantic analysis system" and Early Start Joint Stock Company with the product "Monkey Junior".
Along with that are 2 Second Prizes each worth 50 million VND, 2 Third Prizes each worth 30 million VND, 1 Prize for Promising Startup worth 15 million VND and 2 Encouragement Prizes each worth 15 million VND.
7 - Vietnam Math Team ranked first in the International Math and Science Olympiad

The Vietnamese Math team won 7 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals at the International Math and Science Olympiad for students under 13 years old, held in Indonesia.
Of the 12 students competing in Math, 7 won Gold Medals, including: Cao Thuy An, Nguyen Khanh Nam, Nguyen Nhat Minh (Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted), Giang Khanh Chi, Ngo Quy Dang (Archimedes Academy Secondary School), Le Duc Minh (Doan Thi Diem Secondary School) and Pham Viet Hung (Hanoi Star Secondary School).
With 7 gold medals (1/3 of the gold medals), 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals, the Vietnamese delegation ranked first among 23 participating countries and territories in the Math competition. The Science competition had 10 silver medals (mainly from Hanoi Star Secondary School) and 2 bronze medals.
8 - Transformer station explosion in Hanoi, 4 people burned, 1 dead

At around 3:00 p.m. on November 17, a low-voltage transformer station on Minh Khai Street, Ha Dong District, Hanoi suddenly exploded, causing 5 people to be burned. By the morning of November 18, the family of the victim Vu Dinh Thai (63 years old, one of the 5 victims burned in the explosion) said that Mr. Thai had died due to severe injuries.
At the time of the transformer explosion, people living in the area said they heard a loud explosion followed by screams and some people running around in panic while their bodies were covered in fire.
Ha Dong Electricity Company said that the explosion occurred at a transformer station that was undergoing a trial run before being put into official operation. However, the transformer was flooded with oil, causing a fire.

Celebrating the 34th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2016), this week, many meaningful and practical activities were held across the country to show gratitude to teachers.
On the afternoon of November 18, at the Ministry of Education and Training, Comrade Nguyen Thien Nhan, Politburo member, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front visited and congratulated officials and civil servants in the education sector on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.
On the same evening, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Education Trade Union in collaboration with the Science and Education Department - Vietnam Television organized an art exchange program called Thay loi tri an, to honor teachers in the career of educating people.
