Many Nazi artifacts have been found deep underwater, but treasure hunters believe there are still many valuable items waiting to be discovered.
Nazi leader Hitler is believed to have hidden a treasure worth $45.5 billion across Europe, and it is now waiting to be found.
Hitler looted numerous works of art and treasures throughout Europe and stockpiled them in Nazi vaults.
Furthermore, during the Holocaust, the Nazis took rings, jewelry, and valuables from concentration camp prisoners, melted them down, and forged them into solid gold bars.
However, much of what the Nazis looted has yet to be found, and many believe that the majority of this treasure lies at the bottom of Lake Toplitz.
Lake Toplitz, nestled deep in the forest and 98km from Salzburg, was a Nazi German naval base during World War II.
According to historical accounts, the leaders of this force dumped many valuable items into the lake as they fled before the advancing Allied forces.
Ernst Kaltenbrunner, the head of the Nazi security agency, is accused of helping to organize the dumping of valuables into the lake.
Kaltenbrunner claimed to have sunk the treasure after fleeing Berlin. He was executed in 1946, taking the secrets of the treasure to his grave.
Albrecht Syen owns a restaurant on the shores of Lake Toplitz. He says he is familiar with the legend.
"Dozens of locals believe that many more crates of treasure were hidden beneath Lake Toplitz during the final days of World War II," he said.
"From then on, rumors circulated that those barrels were filled with Nazi gold. Over the years, several treasure hunters have paid with their lives while searching for their fortune at this lake."
Currently, diving in Lake Toplitz is prohibited.
Divers once found £100 million in counterfeit money in Lake Toplitz.
