Suzuki Swift Sport 2017 revealed

It is expected that Suzuki Swift Sport 2017 will be officially launched at the Frankfurt 2017 exhibition taking place in September this year.

The new generation Suzuki Swift compact hatchback was first launched in Japan last December. Now, Suzuki has launched a sporty version of the 2017 Swift under the simple name Sport.

The only image released by Suzuki shows that the 2017 Swift Sport has some differences compared to the regular version. That is shown in the new front bumper with fog lamp recesses that are no longer connected.

On the front of the 2017 Suzuki Swift Sport there are also new air vents and a wider grille. In particular, the grille comes with a wave-shaped mesh instead of a honeycomb.

For the time being, Suzuki has not released much information regarding the higher performance version of the new generation Swift. According to previous rumors, the 2017 Suzuki Swift Sport will weigh only 870 kg, 200 kg lighter than the old version.

It is not yet clear which engine the 2017 Suzuki Swift Sport uses. Meanwhile, the 2017 Suzuki Swift in the Japanese market has 3 different drivetrain options. The first is a 1.0-liter, turbocharged, 3-cylinder Boosterjet gasoline engine. This engine produces a maximum capacity of 102 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 150 Nm at 1,700 - 4,500 rpm.

The second is a 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder Dualjet petrol engine with a maximum capacity of 91 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 118 Nm at 4,400 rpm. Finally, the hybrid drive system includes the Dualjet petrol engine as above and an electric motor that produces a maximum capacity of 3.1 horsepower and a maximum torque of 50 Nm.

The car's engine options come with a 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic or CVT transmission. Besides, there is an optional 1- or 2-wheel drive system.

It is likely that the 2017 Suzuki Swift Sport will share the same 1.4-liter, turbocharged, direct-injection, 4-cylinder BoosterJet engine from the Vitara S. This engine produces a maximum capacity of 140 horsepower and a maximum torque of 220 Nm.
