SYM Sport Rider 125i - 'dreaming' of competing with Yamaha Exciter

SYM's first 125cc underbone model equipped with electronic fuel injection will go on sale from September at a price of $1,400.

On August 26th, SYM introduced an underbone-styled motorcycle called the Sport Rider 125i. The Taiwanese motorcycle manufacturer stated that this is also SYM's first 125cc model equipped with an EFI electronic fuel injection system, designed by SYM Malaysia.

The SYM Sport Raider 125i is priced at $1,400 USD in Malaysia.

The Sport Rider 125i is developed from its siblings, the SYM Sport Bonus 115 and E Bonus 110. It is equipped with a 123cc single-cylinder SOHC engine, liquid-cooled, with EFI electronic fuel injection. It produces 9.3 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 10.8 Nm at 5,500 rpm. It has a 4-speed gearbox.

According to SYM Malaysia, the Sport Rider 125i meets Euro 3 emission standards. This underbone model uses LED lights for the turn signals, daytime running lights, and taillights. There's a storage compartment under the seat, and the 4.2-liter fuel tank is located at the rear. The instrument panel has a sporty design with an analog speedometer and an integrated LCD screen displaying various vehicle information.

The front suspension is a telescopic fork with hydraulic damping, while the rear suspension is an adjustable coil spring. Safety features include a single disc brake with a 2-piston caliper at the front and a conventional brake at the rear. Weight: 107 kg.

The SYM Sport Rider 125i will first go on sale in Malaysia, starting in September. It comes in three color options: yellow, blue, and red, and is priced at US$1,400.
