A natural gorge opens up to a direct view down into the valley, where a sea of fluffy clouds is "framed" between two cliffs. This is a highlight of the Wind Peak (Ta Xua, Son La) – a cloud-watching spot that is being talked about by the tourism community, located about 3 km from the center of Ta Xua commune.
Contrary to information circulating on social media claiming this location is 2,800 meters high (the altitude of Ta Xua peak, a popular trekking destination), the Wind Peak area and the center of the commune are actually located at an average altitude of about 1,600 meters above sea level. The temperature difference between day and night and the open terrain create conditions for thick, layered sea of clouds, adding depth to the scenery.
Discover Wind Peak through the rocky "doorway".
The highlight of Wind Peak is the natural gorge that creates an opening like a doorway, offering a panoramic view down into the cloud-filled valley. From here, photographers can capture the two cliffs on either side, creating a distinct sense of depth.
Diep Huu Dat, a local tour guide, commented that this place is suitable for tourists who like unique photo angles and exploring nature. "However, this area is a natural cliff with no safety railings, so tourists need to be extremely careful when moving to the edge of the cliff to take pictures," Dat noted.
