Driver reported fake news and was strangled by 3 passengers with a rope and had his car stolen.
On August 4, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department's Staff Department announced that the Tay Nam Ward Police had just handled a subject who had reported fake news...
Previously, at 2:40 a.m. on August 3, Tay Nam Ward Police (Ho Chi Minh City) received a report from the people about the incident of NTT (born in 1980; permanent residence: Hamlet The Tu, Thoi Tam Thon Commune, Hoc Mon District; now Hamlet 105, Dong Thanh Commune) driving a car carrying 3 passengers on DT744 road from Phu An Ward to Tay Nam Ward.
When arriving at the area of Dong Soi neighborhood, Tay Nam ward (about 2km from Tay Nam ward People's Committee headquarters), Mr. NTT was strangled by 3 customers using a rope to steal his motorbike.

Upon receiving the report, Tay Nam Ward Police promptly arrived at the scene to record and investigate the three suspects as stated by NTT. At the same time, they coordinated with the Criminal Police Department, the Criminal Techniques Department and the People's Procuracy of Region 18 to examine the scene and collect evidence.
During the working process, realizing that NTT had signs of dishonesty, they focused on fighting and clarifying with NTT. Thereby, NTT confessed that due to life pressure, his mentality was unstable and he lost control; the people in the car did not threaten, pressure or injure NTT. According to initial assessment, it is likely that NTT "reported false information" just because he wanted to attract people's attention?!

After working with the police, NTT realized that providing false information and reporting to the police was a violation of the law.
Currently, Tay Nam Ward Police continue to work and consolidate the file to handle NTT for the act of "Reporting fake and untrue information to competent agencies and organizations".
