Earlier, at 2:40 AM on August 3rd, the Tay Nam Ward Police (Ho Chi Minh City) received a report from residents about NTT (born in 1980; residing at The Tu Hamlet, Thoi Tam Thon Commune, Hoc Mon District; now Hamlet 105, Dong Thanh Commune) driving a car carrying 3 hired passengers on DT744 road heading from Phu An Ward to Tay Nam Ward.
Upon arriving in the Dòng Sỏi neighborhood, Tây Nam ward (about 2km from the Tây Nam ward People's Committee office), Mr. NTT was attacked by three customers who used a rope to strangle him while stealing his motorbike.
Upon receiving the report, the Tay Nam Ward Police quickly arrived at the scene to record the incident and conduct an investigation into the three suspects as described by NTT. Simultaneously, they coordinated with the Criminal Police Department, the Forensic Technical Department, and the People's Procuratorate of Area 18 to examine the scene and collect evidence.
During the investigation, noticing signs of dishonesty from NTT, the authorities focused on clarifying the situation with NTT. NTT confessed that due to life pressures, their mental state was unstable and they lost control; the people in the vehicle did not threaten, pressure, or injure NTT. Based on initial assessments, it is highly likely that NTT made the "false alarm" simply to attract attention.
After working with the police, NTT realized that providing false information and making false reports to the police was a violation of the law.
Currently, the Tay Nam Ward Police are continuing to work and consolidate the case file to prosecute NTT for the act of "Providing false and inaccurate information to competent agencies and organizations".
