The merger of the two branches of Trung Phuc Cuong 2 Primary School has been temporarily suspended.

This afternoon (September 11th), Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan, Chief of the Office of the Department of Education and Training, stated that the Department had received a petition from parents of students at Branch 2 proposing not to merge Branch 2 (in Quang Xa hamlet, Thien Nhan commune) due to the long commute to school and potential safety risks for students. Considering the current context where the whole country is focusing on implementing a two-tiered local government model, and to ensure stability and facilitate the implementation of the new government model, the Department requests the People's Committee of Thien Nhan commune to direct Trung Phuc Cuong 2 Primary School to temporarily suspend the merger of Branch 2 with Branch 1.

At the same time, we request that the People's Committee of the commune continue to direct the school to prepare the necessary facilities and other conditions, and to continue to disseminate information and mobilize parents and students. The merger will be carried out when we receive the consensus of all parents and students of branch 2.

Previously, since the start of the new school year, parents of more than 100 students at Trung Phuc Cuong 2 Primary School, branch 2 located in Quang Xa hamlet, have prevented their children from attending branch 1 (the main school campus) in Duong Pho hamlet. According to local residents, their biggest concern when transferring their children to the main campus is safety. The road from Nam Phuc to the main campus, passing through Cau Coi intersection, is heavily used by trucks and has been the scene of accidents. Students traveling this route face many risks, especially since many children have parents working far away who lack the time to drop them off and pick them up, and some have elderly grandparents.

On the school's side, Ms. Le Thi Lan, the school principal, stated that the policy of merging the smaller school branches into the main school has been in place since this academic year. The aim is to improve the quality of teaching and learning, concentrate investment, and effectively utilize resources so that students can learn in a centralized environment with better equipment and facilities.

During the merger process, the school promptly reported to the Thien Nhan commune authorities, prepared a proposal, and held parent meetings to inform them of the school's plan. However, the implementation process did not receive the consensus of the local people. Therefore, after the opening day, only about half of the students from branch campus 2 attended classes at the main school.

However, during the merger process, it is necessary to actively disseminate information so that the people and parents understand the local and school's policies, and the benefits for students when studying in schools with spacious and modern facilities.

For Trung Phuc Cuong 2 Primary School, in the coming period, the school needs to continue to disseminate information, persuade, and explain the merger policy to parents, assigning responsibility to each teacher to participate. At the same time, it should coordinate with the local government to improve facilities and organize boarding services for students at the main school.
