Director of Forensic Center detained.
The Investigation Department of the Supreme People's Procuracy has issued an order to temporarily detain Mr. Pham Ngoc Phuong (53 years old), residing in Chanh Lo ward, Quang Ngai city, Quang Ngai province, Director of the Quang Ngai Forensic Center, to investigate the act of accepting bribes.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Phuong has been placed under temporary detention for 3 months and 21 days. Prior to this, on February 25th, the Investigation Agency of the Supreme People's Procuracy urgently detained Mr. Phuong for investigation into bribery, and conducted searches of his workplace and home. Mr. Pham Ngoc Phuong was formerly the Head of the Pathology Department and Head of the Forensic Department at Quang Ngai Provincial General Hospital.

According to initial investigations, Mr. Phuong was arrested for accepting money to falsify forensic examination results related to a case. This act altered the nature of the execution of the sentence for the convicted person. The Quang Ngai Provincial Department of Health has assigned Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, to temporarily take charge of the Quang Ngai Forensic Center from March 10, 2023.
