Authorities have detained two suspects involved in 11 nighttime robberies.

(Baonghean.vn) - After more than a month of investigation and evidence gathering, on the afternoon of August 19th, the Nghi Loc District Police issued an order to temporarily detain two suspects: Le Duc Thang (born in 1995), residing in Hamlet 10, Nghi Hop Commune, Nghi Loc District, and Hoang Cong Dat (born in 1998), residing in Block 9, Nghi Tan Ward, Cua Lo Town, for the crime of robbery.

Since July 2016, robberies have frequently occurred on Route 46 and National Highway 1A in Nghi Loc district. The perpetrators use Exiter and Sirius motorcycles (with license plates removed) and often take advantage of the late night hours (around 7 PM to midnight) to steal handbags and other valuables from women.

In response to this situation, the Nghi Loc District Police established special case 716G to investigate and clarify the matter.

On the evening of August 15th, two robberies occurred in the area. Specifically, at around 8:30 PM, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen (born in 1993), residing in Hamlet 2, Nghi Thuan Commune, was on her way home from Vinh City when, upon reaching Hamlet 22, Nghi Trung Commune, she was robbed by two individuals on a blue Exiter motorbike. They snatched her red handbag containing a red wallet. The wallet contained a Samsung L5 phone worth nearly 5 million VND and some personal documents.

At 9 PM on the same day, on National Highway 46, in the Nghi Thach commune (near Son Market), Ms. Phan Thi Sum (born in 1997), residing in Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province (traveling with her boyfriend), was on her way from Cua Lo to Vinh when, while passing through Nghi Thach commune, she was robbed by two individuals on an Exciter motorbike. They stole a white handbag containing a Nokia X2 phone and 600,000 VND.

After a period of surveillance, the task force identified individuals exhibiting suspicious behavior. On August 17th, the Nghi Loc District Police cracked the case, arresting two suspects: Le Duc Thang (born in 1995), residing in Hamlet 10, Nghi Hop Commune, Nghi Loc District, and Hoang Cong Dat (born in 1998), residing in Block 9, Nghi Tan Ward, Cua Lo Town, for the crime of robbery.

The recovered items included one Exiter motorbike, four mobile phones, and 1.4 million VND. These were the assets the suspects had stolen on the night of August 15th.

Through investigation, it was learned that the suspects had committed 11 robberies targeting people traveling on National Highway 46, heading from Vinh City to Cua Lo. Currently, the Nghi Loc District Police are finalizing the case files to prosecute the two suspects according to the law.

In addition, announcements were made through mass media to inform the victims of 11 robberies in order to further clarify the criminal acts of the two suspects and to return the stolen property.
