Authorities have detained a suspect believed to have poisoned students' food.
Authorities have placed a cafeteria employee at Chu Van Thinh High School under criminal detention to investigate the incident involving food served to students that smelled of pesticides.
According to the leaders of the People's Procuracy of Son La province, the Mai Son District Police have just issued a decision.criminal detentionRegarding HTT (residing in Mai Son district), a kitchen staff member at Chu Van Thinh High School (Chieng Ban commune, Mai Son district, Son La province), for the act of causing harm to the health of others.
The decision to place HTT under temporary criminal detention has been approved by the People's Procuratorate of the same level.
The head of the Son La Provincial People's Procuracy added that Ms. T. is the wife of the former principal of Chu Van Thinh High School (who has since transferred to another school). Furthermore, the police are also requesting expert analysis of food samples suspected of being poisoned to further clarify the case.
Earlier, on the afternoon of September 22nd, the People's Committee of Chiềng Ban commune received a report from Chu Văn Thịnh High School regarding the students' food having a pesticide smell. Subsequently, the commune authorities, in coordination with relevant agencies, conducted an inspection and discovered that the retained samples also had a pesticide odor.
According to authorities, the incident involving the food having a strange smell was detected early, and since the students had not yet eaten it, no one's health was affected.
The principal of Chu Van Thinh High School informed that the school has over 1,200 students. Of these, more than 400 students eat lunch at the school.
