Detain suspect of poisoning students' food
Authorities have detained a kitchen staff member at Chu Van Thinh High School to investigate the case of student food smelling of pesticides.
The leader of the People's Procuracy of Son La province said that Mai Son district police have just issued a decisioncriminal detentionagainst HTT (residing in Mai Son district), a kitchen staff at Chu Van Thinh High School (Chieng Ban commune, Mai Son district, Son La province), for causing harm to the health of others.
The decision to temporarily detain HTT was approved by the People's Procuracy of the same level.
The leader of the People's Procuracy of Son La province added that Ms. T. is the wife of the former principal of Chu Van Thinh High School (now transferred to another school). In addition, the police are also requesting an examination of food samples suspected of being poisoned to further clarify the case.

Previously, on the afternoon of September 22, the People's Committee of Chieng Ban Commune received a report from Chu Van Thinh High School about the smell of pesticides in students' food. After that, the commune authorities coordinated with the authorities to inspect and discovered that the stored sample smelled of pesticides.
According to authorities, the incident of the food having a strange smell was discovered early, the students had not eaten it yet so no one's health was affected.
The principal of Chu Van Thinh High School informed that the school has over 1,200 students. Of these, over 400 students eat at the school.
