Director of company suspected of producing tons of fake coffee detained in Gia Lai.
The Gia Lai Provincial Police have detained Mr. Vo Minh Tung, Director of NP Gia Lai Company, to investigate his involvement in the production and sale of counterfeit coffee.
According to information from the Gia Lai Provincial Police on October 26th, the Criminal Investigation Agency has issued a decision to temporarily detain Mr. Vo Minh Tung (born in 1978, residing in Hoi Phu ward, Gia Lai province) for investigation into the suspected production and sale of counterfeit coffee in the area.
Previously, on October 24th, the Department of Criminal Investigation of Corruption, Economic Crimes, Smuggling and Environmental Crimes (Gia Lai Provincial Police) coordinated with the Provincial People's Procuracy and the police forces of Hoi Phu ward and Gao commune to conduct an urgent search of Mr. Tung's residence and workplace, as well as the company's production warehouse in Gao commune.
At the scene, authorities seized over 300 kg of finished coffee products bearing the TK brand; nearly 900 kg of green coffee beans; approximately 4 tons of roasted, ground, and mixed coffee powder awaiting packaging; and more than 4.5 tons of raw materials and additives including flavorings, butter oil, additives, soybeans, and coloring agents.
In addition, the police also seized many production equipment such as roasting machines, grinding machines, mixing machines, packaging machines, and machines for printing production and expiration dates.
The case is currently being investigated by the Gia Lai Provincial Police to clarify the facts and handle it according to the law.
