Criminal detention of 6 subjects related to the firecracker incident on National Highway 1A
On January 11, Tien Giang Provincial Police temporarily detained 6 suspects to clarify their behavior of disturbing public order and are clarifying some other suspects related to the fireworks incident on National Highway 1A.
The detained subjects include: Tran Anh Dung (born in 1989); Nguyen Khanh Duy (born in 2003); Tran Mai Truong An (born in 1990); Le Thanh Khoa (born in 1990, both residing in Cai Lay town); Pham Tan Phat (born in 1997, residing in Cai Lay district) and Phan Van Cuong (born in 1983, residing in My Phuoc town, Tan Phuoc district).
According to the investigation results, on the evening of January 9, Khoa held a birthday party at a pho restaurant along National Highway 1A in Nhi My Ward (Cai Lay Town). Khoa invited more than 100 relatives and friends from inside and outside the province to attend.

During the party, Khoa turned on a large sound system to sing and dance in the house. At 10 p.m. the same day, Dung took 5 boxes of fireworks and set them off on the median strip of National Highway 1A, saying they were “entertaining” the party.
When the fireworks exploded, about 20 people ran out to dance, film and take pictures, affecting traffic order and safety, causing public disorder.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Provincial Police Department directed the Criminal Police Department to coordinate with Cai Lay Town Police to disperse the crowd and summon the subjects to the Town Police headquarters for questioning.
The Investigation Police Agency coordinated with the People's Procuracy at the same level to conduct a crime scene investigation, collect documents and evidence, and clarify the subjects' acts of disturbing public order to strictly handle them in accordance with the law.
Through initial investigation, Dung confessed that the origin of the fireworks he burned on the median strip of National Highway 1A was given to him by a friend in Cambodia.
The case is being investigated and clarified for handling according to regulations.
