Before round 3 of V.League 2023/24, which is also the official end of the transfer market, Song Lam Nghe An temporarily breathed a sigh of relief when successfully recruiting striker Raphael Success from Hanoi Police Club. The contract between Vinh Stadium team and Nigerian striker is carried out on loan, with a term of 1 year.
PV: Raphael Success, please briefly introduce your past professional football career?
Raphael Success:I am a Nigerian national, 25 years old, and started my career playing for my hometown club NAF Rockets FC. My preferred position is winger or winger. In 2020, I moved to Ayeyawady United - a club in the Myanmar National Championship. In my first season playing for this team, I scored 16 goals and became the top scorer in the highest league in Myanmar.
After finishing my contract with Ayeyawady, I moved to play in the Thai championship for Police Tero club. However, my playing style did not suit the new club and I was loaned to Kasetsart FC. After 2 years in Thailand, I became a free agent and decided to move to Vietnam to play for Hanoi Police Club.
PV: Why did you choose V.League as the next stop in your football career?
Raphael Success:As you know, my wife is Vietnamese. We have been married for nearly 6 years and have a 6-year-old son together. This is not the first time I have been to Vietnam. I used to live here with my family. I consider Vietnam as my second home. This is the motivation and urge for me to move to Vietnam to continue my football career.
PV: After a period of playing in V.League in the Hanoi Police Club's jersey, what are your thoughts on this tournament?how?
Raphael Success:The Vietnam National Football Championship is a high-quality tournament. It gathers many strong teams, with fierce competition. I want to come here to compete and demonstrate my ability. Wearing the Hanoi Police Club shirt, I integrated quite quickly, after 7 matches, scoring 4 goals, contributing to helping this team overcome Hanoi FC to step up to the V.League 2023 championship.
PV: Have you researched the team you will be playing for throughout this season? What do you think are the strengths of Song Lam Nghe An?
Raphael Success:Before coming to Song Lam Nghe An, I also learned about this football team. I found this to be one of the most traditional football clubs in Vietnam. Here, people love football very much and always support their hometown team. That is what makes me want to become a part of the club. Besides, in this year's season, Song Lam Nghe An has many talented young players, they have passion and I want to work with my teammates to achieve high results to satisfy the fans.
PV: What are Success's strengths? What position do you want to play in Song Lam Nghe An club?
Raphael Success:I am good at playing on the left wing and am highly regarded for my speed and personal technique. However, I cannot decide which position I will play at Song Lam Nghe An. I am a professional player so I respect the decision of the club's head coach. Based on the tactics and current personnel, the head coach of Song Lam Nghe An will arrange for me to play in a suitable position, in order to bring about overall efficiency for the whole team.
PV: How do you prepare to quickly integrate into the team?Lam River Nghe An?
Raphael Success:I have played more than half a season in V.League. I understand how Vietnamese players play, so I think it will not be difficult for me to get into the rhythm at the new club. I will try my best to quickly integrate with my teammates at Song Lam Nghe An. I am happy to join Vinh Stadium and I will try to give my all for the team.
PV: What do you expect and what are your goals when playing for Song Lam Nghe An?
Raphael Success:I came here to play with the hope of helping Song Lam Nghe An's attack play more effectively and explosively in the 2023/24 season. I hope my new team will win many victories this season and am determined to score many goals in the new club's shirt. In the immediate future, I will practice well to gain the trust of the coaching staff and hope to soon have an official position at Song Lam Nghe An. With seriousness in training and a desire to express myself, I think I will soon integrate into the club's playing style, thereby bringing success to the team.
