New signing Raphael Success and his goals at Song Lam Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Before his debut match for his new club, Raphael Success gave an interview to a reporter from Baonghean Newspaper. The striker set a goal of scoring many goals for the Nghe An team.
Before the third round of the V.League 2023/24, which also marked the official closing of the transfer window, Song Lam Nghe An breathed a sigh of relief after successfully recruiting striker Raphael Success from Hanoi Police Club. The contract between the Vinh-based team and the Nigerian striker is a one-year loan agreement.
Interviewer: Raphael Success, could you tell us a little about your professional football career?
Raphael Success:I am Nigerian, 25 years old, and began my career playing for my hometown club, NAF Rockets FC. My preferred position is winger or forward. In 2020, I moved to Ayeyawady United, a club in the Myanmar National Championship. In my first season with the team, I scored 16 goals and became the top scorer in Myanmar's top league.
After my contract with Ayeyawady ended, I moved to play in the Thai league for Police Tero. However, my playing style didn't suit the new club, and I was loaned to Kasetsart FC. After two years in Thailand, I became a free agent and decided to move to Vietnam to join Hanoi Police FC.
PV: Why did you choose the V.League as your next destination in your football career?
Raphael Success:As you know, my wife is Vietnamese. We've been married for almost six years and currently have a six-year-old son. This isn't my first time in Vietnam. I used to live here with my family. I consider Vietnam my second home. This is what motivated me to move to Vietnam to continue my football career.
PV: After your time playing in the V.League for Hanoi Police Club, what are your thoughts on this league?how?
Raphael Success:The Vietnam National Football Championship is a high-quality league. It brings together many strong teams, with fierce competition. I wanted to come here to play and showcase my abilities. Wearing the Hanoi Police Club jersey, I adapted quite quickly, scoring 4 goals in 7 matches, contributing to the team's victory over Hanoi FC to win the V.League 2023 championship.
PV: Have you researched the team you'll be playing for throughout this season? In your opinion, what are Song Lam Nghe An's strengths?
Raphael Success:Before joining Song Lam Nghe An, I had already done some research about the team. I found it to be one of the most traditional clubs in Vietnamese football. The people here are very passionate about football and always wholeheartedly support their hometown team. That's what made me want to be a part of the club. Besides that, this season, Song Lam Nghe An has many talented young players who are ambitious, and I want to work with my teammates to achieve high results and please the fans.
PV: What are Success's strengths, and what position would you like to play in for Song Lam Nghe An club?
Raphael Success:My forte is playing on the left wing, and I'm highly regarded for my speed and individual technique. However, I can't decide which position I'll play at Song Lam Nghe An. I'm a professional player, so I respect the head coach's decision. Based on the tactics and available personnel, the Song Lam Nghe An head coach will assign me to a suitable position to maximize the team's overall effectiveness.
PV: How are you preparing to integrate into the team so quickly?Lam River, Nghe An?
Raphael Success:I've played in the V.League for over half a season. I understand how Vietnamese players play football, so I think it won't be difficult for me to adapt to my new club. I will work hard in training to quickly integrate with my teammates at Song Lam Nghe An. I'm happy to join the team based in Vinh and I will try my best to give my all for the team.
Interviewer: What are your hopes and goals when playing for Song Lam Nghe An?
Raphael Success:I'm here to play with the hope of helping Song Lam Nghe An's attack become more effective and explosive in the 2023/24 season. I hope my new team will win many games this season and I'm determined to score as many goals as possible in my new club's colors. First and foremost, I will train hard to gain the trust of the coaching staff and hope to soon secure a starting position at Song Lam Nghe An. With my seriousness in training and my desire to prove myself, I believe I will quickly adapt to the club's playing style and contribute to the team's success.
