Episode 10 of the Rookie All-Round program concluded with a disappointing result: two contestants, Ho Dong Quan and Swan Nguyen, had to leave the competition. This decision was made after the rookie group failed in crucial challenges at Performance 4, facing off against the band Bus from Thailand.
A close defeat and extreme pressure.
Entering Performance Round 4, the rookie group faced the task of "breaking the ice" to rescue their two teammates, Ho Dong Quan and Swan Nguyen, who were "frozen." However, their performance of "Take u home tonight" only scored 770 points, equivalent to 92.9%, falling short of the challenge threshold of 93.5% by 0.6%. This failure meant that Ho Dong Quan and Swan Nguyen could not participate in Round 2 and fell into the danger zone.
The pressure intensified when the newcomers had to enter Round 2 shortly afterward. Team leader Duy Lân shared: "Right when I was promoted to team leader, everything became so difficult, from mental to health issues."
Physical exhaustion was evident when member Wonbi collapsed on stage after performing "Bass Sound." He had to use an oxygen tank backstage to stabilize his breathing.
Unsuccessful attempt and the final outcome
In Round 2, the newcomers had one win and one loss. The performance "Bass Sound," deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture with images of the ao dai, conical hat, and Ly Dynasty dragon, successfully surpassed the challenge with 797 points (104.7% of the target score).
However, the "Abracadabra" performance narrowly failed, scoring only 741 points (95.5% of the target) compared to the challenge's 96%. This performance couldn't surpass Bus's "Bow Wow" performance.
The overall results led to the elimination of members. Based on their individual accumulated scores, Ho Dong Quan and Swan Nguyen were the two names who had to end their journey in the Rookie of the Year competition, leaving many members and producers of SOOBIN with regrets.
Ho Dong Quan expressed regret for not being able to showcase his full potential, while Swan Nguyen shared about her close bond with her teammates. This result was seen as a major shock, adding more pressure on the contestants in the next stage.
