(Baonghean.vn) - According to data from the Department of Internal Affairs of Tan Ky district (Nghe An province), the entire district has 22 communes, of which 16 communes must be merged according to the plan.

Phase 1 will merge 8 communes, including: Nghia Dong and Nghia Thai, Nghia Hop and Nghia Binh, Tan Xuan and Tan Phu, Nghia Hoan and Tan Long.

Currently, communes and towns in the area are developing merger plans regarding staff allocation as well as the efficient exploitation and use of facilities.

Mr. Doan Tu Nghia, Head of the Internal Affairs Department of Tan Ky District, said: "The merger of communes and towns is a major policy, and Tan Ky District, like other localities, is proceeding cautiously from villages and hamlets to communes."

Mr. Hoang Quoc Viet, Chairman of the Tan Ky District People's Committee, said: "Initially, the district is focusing on mergers, including personnel and staffing, down to the village and hamlet level, followed by the merger of communes. In 2018, the district directed communes to merge, reducing 93 villages and hamlets. In 2019, we will continue to direct the remaining 5 communes and towns to carry out the merger of villages and hamlets."

After completing the hamlet merger, the district will coordinate with relevant agencies to carry out the steps to merge the communes as outlined in the plan.

To avoid wasting the existing headquarters buildings after the merger, the district will find solutions to utilize them in the most optimal and rational way, possibly for use as schools, health centers, or auxiliary administrative areas.

The district is directing local authorities to temporarily halt construction of new headquarters pending the merger process.
