After achieving the new rural development goals, localities in Tan Ky district immediately began building advanced new rural communes according to plan.

Eager to welcome the advanced new rural commune.

Returning to Nghia Dong commune 10 years after the locality held the ceremony to announce and receive the new rural commune status, I witnessed the changes here. In 2014, Nghia Dong was the first locality of...Tan Ky districtand it is also one of the top communes in the province in achieving the new rural development goals.

Today, the rural landscape of Nghia Dong commune has clearly improved. Roads, schools, health stations, and village cultural centers have been invested in and built to a high standard; the rural environment is green, clean, and beautiful; and many new economic development models have emerged.

Upon arriving in Nghia Dong commune, the general impression is that each resident here truly understands the depth of their understanding.National Target Program for Building New Rural AreasStopping at the flower-lined road in Hamlet 6, we chatted with Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu and learned that to create such a beautiful flower-lined road, his family buys various types of flowers to plant every year. To better care for the plants, they installed a watering system, so even during the hot summer months, the flowers are always in full bloom.

“When the neighborhood organized the construction of a concrete road, our family contributed money to buy sand and gravel, and even donated land to open the road. Once the road was built, we planted trees and flowers… Many families in the neighborhood also voluntarily planted flowers on both sides of the road to create a green, clean, and beautiful environment,” said Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu.

Mr. Vo Duy Hien, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghia Dong commune, said that the Provincial New Rural Development Assessment Council has voted to recognize Nghia Dong as an advanced new rural commune in 2024. Throughout many years of implementing the advanced new rural development program, all criteria have received investment, but the most significant changes have been in the two criteria of transportation and healthcare.

From 2021 to the present, with cement support from the province and district, the people in the commune have unanimously and voluntarily contributed materials to continue pouring concrete for the roads.

To date, a total of 5.3km of commune roads have been concreted/asphalted, and sections passing through residential areas have drainage ditches along both sides, street lighting systems, and fully installed traffic signs as required. The system of village and hamlet roads, totaling over 10km, has also been 100% concreted, and all are equipped with street lighting.

"The Party Committee, the government, and the people in the commune are actively preparing for the ceremony to receive the advanced new rural commune status. After achieving the advanced new rural commune status, Nghia Dong commune will immediately begin building a model new rural commune. In particular, the locality will focus most intensely on the health criteria to achieve the model new rural commune standard in terms of health," Mr. Vo Duy Hien shared.

Tan Phu commune (Tan Ky district) is urgently working to complete the remaining criteria to strive for advanced new rural development status by the end of 2024.

According to Mr. Tran Xuan Nam, Chairman of the Tan Phu Commune People's Committee, based on the local assessment, by the beginning of July, Tan Phu commune had met 16 out of 19 criteria for advanced new rural development. Three criteria remain unmet: transportation, environment, and cultural infrastructure.

Accordingly, the transportation criteria still include 5km of rural roads in the hamlets of Ha Suu, Dong Nhat, etc., that have not yet been paved with concrete due to a lack of resources. To complete these 5km of roads, the commune will mobilize resources to build 2km, while the remaining 3km will require support from higher authorities in the form of 500 tons of cement and contributions from the local people.

Regarding environmental criteria, some roads still lack drainage systems; however, social mobilization will be undertaken to implement this by the end of the year. As for cultural infrastructure criteria, village cultural centers have been built and upgraded, but some still lack auxiliary facilities.

"With the guidance and support from higher authorities, along with the efforts of the local government and the backing of the people, we hope that by the end of 2024, Tan Phu commune will achieve the advanced new rural development goals as planned," said Mr. Tran Xuan Nam.

Similarly, Ky Tan commune is also striving to achieve the advanced new rural development goal by the end of 2024. According to the local self-assessment, by mid-2024, Ky Tan commune still has two criteria that have not been met: education and cultural infrastructure.

Regarding education, the junior high school currently lacks 8 classrooms, and the primary school lacks a fence and playground, thus failing to meet the standards for facilities. As for culture, the Quy Hau hamlet's cultural center is dilapidated and has not yet received investment for reconstruction to meet standards.

Mr. Trinh Huy Toan, Chairman of the Ky Tan Commune People's Committee, stated that from now until the end of the year, the locality will continue to mobilize the entire political system to achieve the advanced new rural development goals according to plan. However, the locality needs support from the district in terms of resources to invest in building infrastructure at schools and village cultural centers.

Prioritize resources for communes that achieve their targets on schedule.

Building new rural areas is one of the key tasks that Tan Ky district has implemented since the beginning of its term, and to date has achieved many encouraging results, including 3 communes that have met the standards for new rural areas: Tan Huong, Nghia Hanh, and Dong Van; Nghia Dong commune has achieved the advanced new rural area status. Currently, the district is focusing its efforts and mobilizing all resources to prioritize Tan Phu and Ky Tan communes to achieve the advanced new rural area status in 2024.

Accordingly, the district has developed a specific plan to support the fulfillment of the unmet criteria in Ky Tan commune, namely schools and village cultural centers. For Tan Phu commune, the district will work directly with the commune to find solutions to meet the unmet criteria.

According to Mr. Phan Van Giap, Chairman of the Tan Ky District People's Committee: In accordance with the Resolution of the District Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, Tan Ky aims to have 17 to 18 communes achieving new rural standards. To date, 17 communes have met the standards, and the district is focusing on directing efforts to have 18 communes reach the goal, specifically focusing on directing the remote commune of Tien Ky to achieve new rural status in 2025.

As a remote and isolated commune, with the majority of its population being ethnic minorities, Tien Ky has undergone many changes in recent years thanks to the efforts of the entire political system and investment resources from the State. In particular, the transportation system, schools, and health stations have been invested in and built, creating momentum for the locality to achieve the new rural development goals. Regarding advanced new rural communes, in addition to the two communes that will achieve the goals in 2024, the district aims to have Ky Son commune achieve the goals in 2025.

"

Building new rural areas is "having a starting point, but no end point." Recognizing this perspective, Tan Ky district consistently directs localities, after achieving the new rural area status, to continuously improve the criteria to reach advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas, etc., aiming to improve the material and spiritual lives of the people.
