The new Vice President has just been elected by the National Assembly.
On the afternoon of April 6th, continuing the work program of the 11th session of the 14th National Assembly, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly reported to the National Assembly on the results of discussions within the delegations regarding the proposed candidates for the election of the Vice President.
On the afternoon of April 6th, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc reported to the National Assembly on the explanation and acceptance of opinions from National Assembly deputies regarding the proposed candidates for the election of the Vice President.
Previously, after the National Assembly dismissed Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, the President submitted a list of nominees for the National Assembly to elect a new Vice President. The nominee was Ms. Vo Thi Anh Xuan, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee.
With 447 out of 449 participating delegates voting in favor (representing 93.13% of the total National Assembly delegates), the National Assembly passed a resolution electing Ms. Vo Thi Anh Xuan to the position of Vice President of Vietnam.

Ms. Vo Thi Anh Xuan, born in 1970, is from Tinh Bien district, An Giang province, and is one of the nine female Provincial Party Secretaries in the new term.
Ms. Xuan was an alternate member of the Central Committee of the Party in the 11th term and a full member of the Central Committee in the 12th and 13th terms; she was also a member of the National Assembly in the 14th term.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry Education, was the head teacher of a high school in An Giang, and later worked as a research specialist at the An Giang Provincial Party Committee Office.
After serving as Vice President and then President of the An Giang Provincial Women's Union for nine years, Ms. Xuan successively held the following positions: Deputy Head of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department; Secretary of the Tan Chau Town Party Committee; Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee for the 2011-2016 term; and Deputy Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 2010-2015 term.
In October 2015, the Politburo assigned Ms. Vo Thi Anh Xuan to the position of Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, 9th term, 2010-2015.
In January 2016, at the 12th National Congress of the Party, she was elected a member of the Central Committee of the Party.
In September 2020, atAn Giang Provincial Party CongressFor the 11th time, she was re-elected as Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 11th term, 2020-2025.
At the 13th National Congress of the Party held at the end of January 2021, Ms. Xuan was re-elected to the 13th Central Committee and recently her name was included in the list of candidates for the 15th National Assembly in the Presidential bloc.
