Enhancing railway safety measures to serve the election.
The People's Committee of Nghe An province has requested that agencies and localities with railway lines passing through them strengthen propaganda, inspection, and implementation of measures to ensure order and safety of railway traffic serving the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
On March 12, 2026, the Provincial People's Committee issued Document No. 2353/UBND-NC assigning the Department of Construction, the Standing Committee of the Traffic Safety Board, and the People's Committees of communes and wards with railway lines passing through them, based on their functions and duties, to organize the implementation of the contents as requested by the Vietnam Railway Authority in Official Letter No. 512/CĐSVN-VTPC dated March 10, 2026, regarding coordination to ensure railway traffic safety for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

Accordingly, the Vietnam Railway Authority has requested that localities with railway lines direct specialized agencies and commune-level authorities to intensify the dissemination of laws on railway traffic order and safety to the public and transport businesses. The focus should be on traffic rules at level crossings between roads and railways, and areas around railway bridges crossing rivers.
Local authorities are simultaneously strengthening the implementation of tasks according to regulations on decentralization and delegation of authority; deploying relevant contents in Government Decree No. 16/2026/ND-CP and the provincial People's Committee's plan to implement Prime Minister's Directive No. 22/CT-TTg. This includes focusing on supplementing and repairing traffic signs at level crossings; repainting stop lines and speed bumps on local roads at locations with a high risk of accidents.
In addition, measures should be implemented to ensure traffic safety at dangerous unauthorized crossings; vegetation should be cleared and visibility improved at intersections between roads and railways.

The Vietnam Railway Authority also requested that localities coordinate with railway units to strengthen traffic control checkpoints at level crossings with high traffic density; strictly handle violations of laws on railway traffic order and safety; and study the application of an integrated navigation information system with a database to warn road users before crossing the railway.
In addition, localities will coordinate inspections and reviews of the waterway signaling system in the area of railway bridges crossing rivers within their management scope; at the same time, they will strengthen forces to ensure security and order at stations with high passenger traffic, focusing on counter-terrorism, fire prevention, smuggling, commercial fraud prevention, and disease prevention.
