Strengthening the management of information on the internet.
(Baonghean.vn) - Voters in Nghe An province request that the Ministry of Information and Communications further strengthen the management of information networks, as there is currently too much inaccurate and false information and images causing public confusion and harm to producers, affecting product consumption in particular and the Vietnamese economy in general.
Regarding this issue, the Ministry of Information and Communications responded as follows:
Currently, regulations and sanctions for handling information that violates the law online have been issued quite comprehensively. However, due to the open nature of online information and the rapid development of science and technology, management faces many difficulties. Regarding information on online newspapers, in addition to strict management solutions, the Ministry of Information and Communications has strengthened inspection, examination, and strict handling of violating media outlets, specifically as follows:
Over the past five years, the Ministry has handled 242 cases of violations by media outlets, including issuing warnings to 11 outlets, fining 231 outlets a total of VND 4,607,700,000; revoking the right to use the internet for one month and withdrawing two licenses to establish online information websites for two media outlets, and confiscating one “.vn” domain name.
