A simple funeral scene in the hometown.
According to musician Tô Hiếu, who assisted artist Thương Tín, the funeral was held in a small, intimate setting with approximately four tables of food. The funeral space was quite somber, with most of the mourners being the late artist's siblings and children. Many images shared by local residents show a desolate scene, evoking strong emotions in those who once admired the talented actor.
In particular, the mother of artist Thuong Tin, now 90 years old, is suffering the pain of losing her son. In his final years, he mainly lived with his mother. Musician To Hieu shared that the elderly woman suffered from dementia, and at times, when she was lucid, she would say to her son: "You go first, and I will choose a day to follow you."
According to the plan, the family will take the late artist's remains to be buried at Hoa Thuy Cemetery (Ninh Phuoc, Khanh Hoa) on the afternoon of December 10th.
Family gathered for the farewell ceremony.
At the funeral, Thanh Tung, the eldest son of artist Thuong Tin, arrived early to be present beside his father's coffin. He is the result of the late artist's first marriage. Due to their living circumstances and being separated since childhood, the father and son rarely had the opportunity to meet.
His ex-wife, Kim Chi, also brought their daughter, Thach Thao (12 years old), to pay her respects to her father. The sudden passing of artist Thuong Tin meant he didn't have time to give final instructions to his loved ones or see his children one last time.
A brilliant career followed by a life of hardship in his later years.
Actor Thuong Tin (born in 1956) was one of the leading actors in Vietnamese cinema during the 1980s and 1990s. With a filmography of over 200 movies, he left a deep impression on audiences through his roles in "The Upside Down Card Game," "The Rose Pinned to the Shirt," "The Abyss of Height," and many others.
However, his final years were filled with hardship and illness. After suffering a stroke in 2021, his health deteriorated significantly. His life became difficult, and controversies surrounding his charitable donations greatly affected the artist's image.
Despite being supported and given opportunities to sing by musician Tô Hiếu for a period, their relationship also fractured. From the end of January 2025, artist Thương Tín returned to his hometown of Phan Rang to be cared for by his family until his final days.
