During the Lunar New Year, food is the consumer item that increases the most due to people's demand. Fresh foods such as livestock and poultry are essential and irreplaceable goods. Therefore, the Lunar New Year is also the time when livestock farmers focus all their efforts on production to supply products to the market.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen - Xuan Trung hamlet, Nghi Duc commune, Vinh city said: Her family raises over 1,000 Egyptian crossbred chickens and 500 free-range chickens to serve the market. Currently, her family is focusing on taking care of, collecting eggs and ensuring the quality of the free-range chicken meat to supply the Tet market.

Green vegetables are also one of the high-consumption items. Since the previous months, the city has directed communes to encourage people to invest in growing commercial vegetables. At the same time, applying scientific and technical advances in production. Currently, the whole city has 273 hectares of green vegetables of all kinds, estimated to reach over 12,000 tons of vegetables for Tet.

These days, people in the suburban communes of the city are focusing on taking care of vegetables to prepare for the peak season of the year. Ms. Le Thi Binh - Dong Vinh hamlet, Hung Dong commune, Vinh city shared: Due to favorable weather this year, our family has grown 5 sao of vegetables to serve the Tet market. Many new varieties of vegetables have been produced such as: green broccoli, purple cabbage, Chinese cabbage... bringing high economic value.

The market for decorative items such as fresh flowers and ornamental plants is also bustling. Currently, the city has built 5 craft villages and 1 village with flower and ornamental plant profession with thousands of households participating. The whole city has over 100 hectares of specialized flower cultivation serving the Tet market with many new, high-quality varieties.

To ensure the supply of goods for the Tet market, localities have instructed people to plant seeds 4 months ago and apply techniques to care for flowers in time for the season. Currently, gardeners have completed the preparation stages to be able to bring to the market the best and most beautiful products with a variety of flowers: lilies, sunflowers, orchids, large chrysanthemums, raspberry chrysanthemums... Gardeners also import many types of high-class flowers from other provinces to supply the market.

At the markets, the shopping atmosphere is also bustling. Vinh market these days is more bustling and crowded because of the large number of people from the city and neighboring districts coming to shop. To serve the market, businesses have gathered goods since 1 month ago. Many new, strange and unique goods are imported by small traders to supply the market. The amount of goods increased by over 50% compared to normal days, of which Vietnamese goods account for over 90%, ensuring to meet the year-end shopping needs.

Supermarkets in Vinh City also attracted a large number of customers to shop for Tet. This year, supermarkets have planned to prepare many types of consumer goods, many times more than in normal months. To stimulate consumption and improve competitiveness, sales units have implemented many promotional programs, reduced prices and committed not to increase prices of essential consumer products to attract and retain customers.

With over 60,000 items, including thousands of consumer goods in major promotional programs, the prices are more stable than the outside market.

Ms. Vo Thi Thao - Deputy Director of Nam Long Trading Company Limited shared: To implement the price stabilization program, our company spent 40 billion VND to import 300,000 liters of cooking oil and thousands of tons of instant noodles, sugar, and milk. The company implemented promotional and discount programs from the factory to the distribution agents so that people can access cheap products with guaranteed quality and stable prices.

With the market stabilization program and the campaign for Vietnamese people to prioritize using Vietnamese goods, Vinh City has implemented many solutions to bring high-quality and reasonably priced Vietnamese goods to many consumers. Enterprises participating in the price stabilization program proactively ensure goods sources, reserve goods in advance, avoid shortages and price hikes.

The city also strengthens market control and inspection activities, ensuring food safety and hygiene from production to distribution and consumption channels, gradually improving the quality of input and output products.

Mr. Tran Quang Lam - Head of Vinh City Economic Department said: The city has directed localities and enterprises to proactively produce, trade, and reserve goods to supply the market; assigned responsibilities to the city's functional departments and localities to focus on promoting propaganda work, calling on organizations, enterprises, and production establishments in the fields of industry, trade, and agriculture to ensure stable circulation of goods in the city's market. At the same time, step up market inspection and control, combat smuggling, trade fraud, production of counterfeit goods, fake goods, and poor quality goods.
