German corporation calls for protection of 'Nord Stream 2'.
Martin Brudermüller, head of BASF, the world's largest chemical company, has voiced support for the Nord Stream 2 project and called for Russia's place in the international community, he stated in an interview with Neue Zurcher Zeitung.

"Thanks to Nord Stream 2, more competitive energy suppliers will emerge in the market. I don't see anything to be afraid of when the Americans want to increase their liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply. However, liquefying natural gas and then returning it to its original state releases carbon dioxide (CO₂)."2"Furthermore, a simple fact is that American LNG is more expensive than Russian natural gas," the head of BASF stated.
According to him, Europeans should not accept the United States trying to decide the fate of projects like Nord Stream 2.
Mr. Brudermüller expressed hope that in this matter, a healthy common sense would prevail and that Washington would not impose sanctions against European companies involved in the construction of the gas pipeline.
At the same time, the head of BASF noted that, in the long term, Russia is an important strategic geopolitical partner of the EU and recalled that Europe has cooperated with Russia's Gazprom for decades with complete trust.
"When the weather turned cold in Europe and residents needed more gas, it was the Russians who promptly switched on the supply," the head of the German corporation emphasized.
