Focus on accelerating progress and ensuring safety for the Spring 2026 crop production.
"Focus intensely, accelerate the planting process, proactively implement measures to prevent and combat cold weather, and ensure sufficient irrigation water for rice," that was the directive of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De when inspecting spring crop production in several localities.
On January 19th, Comrade Nguyen Van De - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with a delegation, inspected the production situation, farm economic models, and irrigation works serving the Spring 2026 crop production.
Ensure timely and safe weather conditions.
In Hung Nguyen Nam commune, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the situation of spring rice planting. To date, the commune has completed planting 664 hectares of rice (reaching 57% of the plan) and 125 hectares of vegetables. The main rice varieties used by farmers are various types of glutinous rice, AC5, TBR225, Thien Uu 8, etc.

The delegation also visited a model of intensive, high-tech vegetable farming in the locality, and highly appreciated the application of modern intensive farming techniques to increase value per unit area.

In Yen Trung commune, the entire commune has prepared rice seedlings for transplanting on approximately 20 hectares, with transplanting expected from January 28th to February 2nd; farmers have also directly sown about 30 hectares, mainly concentrated in the flood-prone summer-autumn areas of Hung Trung hamlets 3, 4, 5, and 6. The remaining 1,150 hectares of directly sown rice have been prepared by the people, with all necessary supplies ready for production; sowing is expected to take place from January 27th to January 30th. In the area, 50 hectares of ornamental peach trees are being cared for and shaped by the people for the Lunar New Year; many areas of medicinal plants such as basil and lemongrass are opening up new avenues for local farm economics.

According to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province has currently planted approximately 30,000 hectares out of a planned area of 90,500 hectares (reaching nearly 30%).
Prioritize upgrading irrigation facilities.
During a direct inspection of the Van Hong pumping station (Yen Trung commune), the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the local efforts in water regulation. However, after more than 40 years of operation, the pumping station has seriously deteriorated, with low capacity, causing difficulties in irrigating over 220 hectares of rice fields. Regarding the local request to dredge six irrigation dams and the T14 drainage canal, which have been silted up due to storms, floods, and highway construction, the Vice Chairman requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the People's Committee of Yen Trung commune to review and propose solutions. The province will soon prioritize funding for maintenance and upgrading to ensure water supply for agricultural production in the area.

After inspecting the localities, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that the Department of Agriculture and Environment closely monitor weather developments and guide people on measures to prevent and combat severe cold damage to rice seedlings and newly transplanted rice.
Local authorities are focusing on mobilizing machinery and manpower to accelerate the planting schedule according to the seasonal calendar; expanding production linkage models associated with product consumption, and increasing production value. In particular, irrigation units need to proactively develop plans for rational water regulation, ensuring both planting and irrigation for crops.
Spring crop production plays an extremely important role, accounting for up to 65% of the year's food production; therefore, the agricultural sector and localities need to focus on solutions to achieve the set goals and plans.
