A fishing boat belonging to fishermen from Nghe An province suddenly caught fire at sea.
On the morning of September 9th, a fishing boat belonging to fishermen from Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district (Nghe An province) caught fire while fishing at sea.
According to Mr. Vu Ngoc Chatt, Chairman of the Fisheries Association of Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district (Nghe An province), at 4:00 AM on September 9th, the fishing vessel NA 99977 TS belonging to fisherman Tran Van Chinh from Dai Hai village caught fire while fishing in the sea area at coordinates 18 degrees 15 minutes North latitude, 107 degrees 12 minutes East longitude (about 70 km from the mainland, bordering Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces).
Mr. Chắt stated that the ship sank immediately after catching fire, the cause of which is still unknown. This fishing vessel, built under Decree 67, is of significant value and is used for purse seine fishing. To date, the local authorities have received information that, among the 16 crew members on board at the time of the accident, two suffered eye injuries and are currently being assisted by other fishermen's boats to return to shore. The local authorities have contacted relevant agencies to provide timely assistance to the fishermen.
