According to Xinhua, the Joint Sea 2016 exercise will start from September 12 to September 19, including three phases: preparation at port, sea exercise and summary.
China and Russia will send a total of 13 surface ships, two submarines, 11 aircraft, 10 helicopters and armored landing vehicles as well as 256 marines.
During the preparation phase, both sides will conduct map discussions and joint training with the marines. In the coming days, both sides will conduct air defense and anti-submarine exercises, coordinate three-dimensional island occupation, search and rescue, landing, and weapons testing and use.
Officers from both countries participated in the first joint exercise to capture a three-dimensional island. "The exercise shows that the two navies have great trust in each other,"Zhang Junshe, a military expert, said.
