US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius said the USS Mustin's stop at Cam Ranh International Port is an example of the depth of our comprehensive partnership and the importance of strengthening civil and military ties between our two countries.

During the stop, the USS Mustin crew will have the opportunity to meet with Nha Trang residents to share American culture through sporting events, the US Embassy said in a statement.

The American crew will also learn about Vietnam through local cultural activities.

“The Mustin crew is excited to contribute to our partnership with Vietnam and understands the importance of our relationship to our mutual interests in peace, stability, and adherence to a rules-based international order. And of course, we are looking forward to experiencing Vietnam’s renowned hospitality and exploring the great city of Nha Trang,” said Commander Thane Clare, commanding officer of the USS Mustin.

The USS Mustin, on patrol from Yokosuka, Japan, has a crew of nearly 300 sailors and routinely operates throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
