US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius said the USS Mustin's stop at Cam Ranh International Port is an example of the depth of the comprehensive partnership and the importance of strengthening civil and military ties between the two countries.

During the stop, the crew of the USS Mustin will have the opportunity to meet with the people of Nha Trang to share about American culture through sporting events, the US Embassy said in a statement.

The American crew will also learn about Vietnam through local cultural activities.

“The crew of the Mustin is excited to contribute to our partnership with Vietnam and understands the importance of our relationship to our mutual interests in peace, stability, and adherence to a rules-based international order. And of course, we can’t wait to experience Vietnam’s renowned hospitality and explore the great city of Nha Trang,” said Commander Thane Clare, commanding officer of the USS Mustin.

The USS Mustin, on patrol from Yokosuka, Japan, has a crew of nearly 300 sailors and routinely operates throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
