On the morning of October 23, the Indian Coast Guard ship SAMRAT with 140 officers and sailors docked at Tien Sa port, beginning a friendship visit to Da Nang.
The welcoming ceremony was held at Tien Sa port with the participation of representatives of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command, the Office of the Military Region 5 Command, the Da Nang City Military Command, the Da Nang City Border Guard Command, the Office of the Da Nang City People's Committee and the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs.
During the visit (from October 23 to 27), the captain and the ship's officers will pay courtesy calls to the Military Region 5 Command, leaders of the Da Nang People's Committee, and the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, and will have activities at the Coast Guard Region 2 Command such as mock drills and sports exchanges. During this visit, the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Indian Coast Guard will also conduct search and rescue exercises at sea.
The Indian Coast Guard ship SAMRAT is 105 meters long, 12.9 meters wide, and has a displacement of 2,577 tons. It is equipped with a Chetak helicopter and many other modern weapons and equipment. This is the fourth visit of a ship of the Indian Coast Guard and also the second visit of the SAMRAT ship to Vietnam.

The visit of the SAMRAT patrol ship to Da Nang continues to affirm the good cooperative relationship between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Indian Coast Guard to ensure security and safety at sea. This is also a good opportunity for both sides to share and learn experiences in ensuring security at sea as well as enhance exchanges, cooperation and mutual understanding.
