Northern Fleet nuclear submarine fires missiles in the Barents Sea.
(Baonghean.vn) - Two nuclear submarines, "Severodvinsk" and "Smolensk," of the Russian Federation's Northern Fleet successfully conducted missile firing exercises in the Barents Sea, according to the Northern Fleet's press service.
"Nuclear anti-submarine missile cruisers of the Northern Fleet conducted missile firing at a simulated enemy group of ships in the Barents Sea. The complex target, simulating a simulated enemy landing ship group, was successfully hit by Kalibr and Granit cruise missiles at a distance of nearly 200 km," the announcement stated.

The crews of the Project 885 Yasen nuclear anti-submarine missile cruiser "Severodvinsk" and the Project 949A Antey nuclear missile cruiser "Smolensk" participated in the exercise. The crews of both ships practiced a combined attack, characterized by simultaneously hitting a target with cruise missiles of varying speeds and flight characteristics.
"According to objective control data, the missile firing exercise was successful. The high performance and reliability of the missile weapons have been confirmed," the announcement emphasized.
According to regulations, the exercise area is closed to the movement of civilian ships and aircraft.
