At 8:00 a.m. on July 3, businessman Thai Binh's Hoang Sa submarine was tested in the northeastern waters of Vietnam with the support of the Ministry of National Defense and the Navy. The Ministry of National Defense's assessment council will directly assess the quality, so the submarine will dive and surface for many hours continuously.
Before boarding the ship, Mr. Hoa told VnExpress that in order to be tested at sea, his brainchild had to pass dozens of tests in a tank, then in a 4-meter deep lake. Notably, the Hoang Sa ship had passed a rigorous 2-day "test" by the Jury established by the Ministry of National Defense, with exercises such as running on the surface, running underground, running in circles, reversing, handling collisions while running underground...
"The test was successful, the Council concluded that the Hoang Sa ship met all safety standards to go to sea for testing," Mr. Hoa affirmed.

"I am very happy and grateful for the support of the State, the Ministry of National Defense, the Navy... creating conditions for people who are passionate about scientific research and invention like us to realize our dreams, contributing a small part to serving the country," said Mr. Hoa.
In 2014, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoa, Director of Quoc Hoa Mechanical Engineering Company, in Thai Binh City, Thai Binh Province, manufactured a mini submarine named Truong Sa. A year later, Mr. Hoa and his team of engineers researched and manufactured a second submarine named Hoang Sa. Mr. Hoa assessed that the submarine was superior to the Truong Sa because of its compact size and many additional features.
The Hoang Sa submarine is designed with steel, weighs 9 tons, is 7 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, and more than 1 meter high. The ship has a maximum speed of 15 nautical miles/hour and can dive to a depth of 50 meters. The estimated diving time is 3 days and 3 nights. The ship can accommodate 2 people.
