At 8:00 AM on July 3rd, the Hoang Sa submarine, owned by businessman Thai Binh, underwent sea trials in the northeastern waters of Vietnam with the support of the Ministry of National Defense and the Navy. A council from the Ministry of National Defense will directly assess its quality, therefore the submarine will dive and surface for many hours continuously.

Before boarding the ship, Mr. Hoa told VnExpress that, in order to be ready for sea trials, his brainchild had passed dozens of tests in tanks and then in a 4-meter-deep lake. Notably, the Hoang Sa ship passed a rigorous two-day "examination" by a judging panel established by the Ministry of National Defense, including tests on the surface, submerged, in circles, reversing, and handling collisions while submerged…

"The inspection was successful, and the Council concluded that the Hoang Sa vessel meets all safety standards for sea trials," Mr. Hoa affirmed.

"I am very happy and grateful for the support of the State, the Ministry of National Defense, the Navy... creating conditions for those of us who are passionate about scientific research and invention to realize our dreams and contribute a small part to serving the country," Mr. Hoa said.

In 2014, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoa, Director of Quoc Hoa Mechanical Manufacturing Company in Thai Binh City, Thai Binh Province, built a mini-submarine named Truong Sa. A year later, Mr. Hoa and his team of engineers researched and built a second submarine named Hoang Sa. Mr. Hoa considered this submarine superior to the Truong Sa due to its compact size and added features.

The Hoang Sa submarine is constructed of steel, weighs 9 tons, is 7 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, and over one meter high. It has a maximum speed of 15 knots and can dive to a depth of 50 meters. The estimated diving time is 3 days and 3 nights. The submarine has a capacity of 2 people.
