Kilo-class submarine 186 - Da Nang has sailed into the Atlantic Ocean.
On the morning of December 25th, the Dutch cargo ship Rolldock Star, carrying submarine 186 - Da Nang to Vietnam, passed through the English Channel and reached the Atlantic Ocean.
Submarine 186 – Da Nang is the fifth in a contract to build six Varshavyanka 636.1 (Kilo) class submarines, signed by the Deputy Minister of National Defence and Commander of the Vietnamese Navy, Nguyen Van Hien, with Mr. Anatoliy Isaykin, General Director of the Russian arms export company Rosoboronexport, on December 15, 2009, in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and the then Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.

From the beginning of 2014 to the present, the Vietnamese Navy has received four Kilo-class submarines, commissioned into the 189th Submarine Brigade: submarines 182 – Hanoi, 183 – Ho Chi Minh City, 184 – Hai Phong, and 185 – Khanh Hoa. Before bringing submarine 186 – Da Nang to Vietnam, the Rolldock Star transported submarine 183 – Ho Chi Minh City from Kaliningrad (Russia) to Cam Ranh on March 19, 2014, and submarine 184 – Hai Phong from Saint Petersburg to Cam Ranh on the evening of January 28, 2015.

Departing from Saint Petersburg (Russia) at 7:37 PM on December 16th (Vietnam time), the Dutch cargo ship Rolldock Star, carrying submarine 186 - Da Nang to Vietnam, has passed through the English Channel and reached the Atlantic Ocean this morning (December 25th).
According to information on the maritime website Marinetraffic, the Rolldock Star will only make a stop at Singapore port until its arrival in Cam Ranh. The Rolldock Star's arrival time in Singapore has been adjusted; instead of the afternoon of January 29, 2016, as initially planned, it will arrive on the afternoon of January 30, 2016.
