The design for a new non-nuclear aircraft carrier for the Russian Navy is expected to be a base for more than 40 aircraft, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at sea.

This was announced by Pavel Filippov, head of the Krylov National Scientific Center and the developer of the idea, in an interview with Sputnik.

"In total, according to our design, the aircraft carrier can accommodate around 40 aircraft and helicopters, and even more could be placed on board," Filippov said.

He also did not rule out the possibility that this could be a base for Russia's latest generation of unmanned vessels.

Filippov stated that Russia's newest fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jets will be able to land on the new aircraft carrier, provided they meet the ship's requirements.

The Krylov Center has developed a new design for a non-nuclear, multi-purpose aircraft carrier for the Russian Navy with a displacement of 40,000 tons. Its cost is over $3 billion, and the construction time is 5 years.
