"Instead of standing upright, the Kentavr ship had a technical problem and tilted," said Taras Chmut, head of the Ukrainian Military Center.
In February 2019, Kiev announced plans to send two Kentavr landing ships to the Sea of Azov this year for protection and patrol.
The first boat of project 58503 "Kentavr" was launched in September 2018. According to the Minister of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchinov, ships of this type "fully comply with the best world standards".
They are equipped with a multiple fire system and two combat modules with large-caliber machine guns and grenade launchers. The ships can reach speeds of 40 knots and carry 36 marines with standard weapons.
