Traceability labels for Vinh oranges have dropped sharply.

According to the Nghe An Provincial Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality, in October and November of this year, 10 companies, cooperatives, and orange growers in the province registered to print nearly 33,000 traceability labels to affix to Vinh oranges.

Meanwhile, during the same period of October and November 2019, orange producers and businesses in the province registered to print nearly 126,000 labels.traceability label for Vinh oranges.

Thus, the number of stamps this year has decreased significantly compared to the 2019 orange harvest.

The reason, according to our findings, is that this year many oranges have fallen off the trees, resulting in poor quality, so orange growers are not attaching traceability labels.

For example, Xuan Thanh Agricultural Company Limited in Quy Hop district printed over 16,000 stamps in October and November of 2019, while this year they only printed 498 stamps in the same two months.

Some well-known orange producers and businesses in Quy Hop district did not register to print traceability labels for Vinh oranges during October and November.

Vinh oranges are harvested most intensively by farmers during the three months from October to December. Therefore, based on the number of traceability labels registered by various units in the past two months, it is predicted that the number of oranges with traceability labels throughout this entire orange season will not be large.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, stated that the purpose of affixing traceability labels to Vinh oranges is to introduce and promote Vinh orange products.Nghe AnThis also enhances the value of Vinh oranges. Therefore, orange growers need to affix traceability labels to Vinh oranges if their orchards meet the requirements. The Department of Science and Technology will soon conduct a survey to assess the actual situation in the orange-growing areas that have been certified with the Vinh orange geographical indication./.
