A man died while casting his net to catch fish.
(Baonghean.vn) - While rowing a boat to cast nets in a flooded field next to the Lam River, the boat unfortunately capsized, causing two people to be swept away by the floodwaters.
At 3 PM on October 12, 2017, a tragic drowning incident occurred on the Lam River in Nam Trung commune, Nam Dan district.
The victim was Nguyen Duy Nghia (born in 1980), residing in Hamlet 10, Nam Trung Commune. Earlier, Nguyen Duy Nghia and Ho Van Tan (born in 2001) went boating to cast nets in a flooded field next to the Lam River when their boat capsized, causing both of them to be swept away by the floodwaters.
According to a local resident, when people saw the two struggling in the raging floodwaters, they called out to each other to help and managed to bring both of them to shore. However, only Tan was rescued; Nghia had already died.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Trung commune, said: "Mr. Nghia's family is in a very difficult situation; his father passed away early, and his wife is separated from him. Immediately after receiving the information, the commune authorities visited the family to offer condolences and support, providing them with one million dong."
