According to the Raglai people, Chapơr means "flying waterfall," associated with the story of a couple who settled by a small waterfall and gave birth to a beautiful daughter named Chaper, who had a lovely singing voice. After a heavy rain swept away their crops and Chaper, the villagers couldn't find her, but they heard her singing voice blending with the waterfall and the rainbow after the rain. In remembrance, the waterfall was named Chapơr.
