Driver fined 35 million VND for defying traffic police during a breathalyzer test.

The driver of a pickup truck, who violated the highest alcohol limit, refused to comply with inspection requests, and displayed a defiant attitude towards law enforcement, was fined 35 million VND, had his driver's license revoked for 23 months, and his vehicle temporarily seized by the Traffic Police Department of Nghe An Province.

On the morning of February 15, 2026, the leaders of the Traffic Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police announced that they had received the case file and issued a decision to fine 35 million VND, revoke the driver's license for 23 months, and temporarily seize the vehicle for one case of driving a car.alcohol concentration violationand displayed a defiant attitude towards the traffic police officers who were on duty.

Earlier, at around 8:30 PM on February 14th, Patrol Team No. 01 (Traffic Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police) on duty in Tay Ho 01 block, Tay Hieu ward, stopped a pickup truck with license plate 37B-149.10 for inspection.

However, the driver refused to comply with the request to open the window for a breathalyzer test, smoked in the car, and showed signs of accelerating. The task force tried to persuade and explain the situation, but the driver remained uncooperative and continued to challenge the officers on duty.

Afterward, the task force reported to the head of the Traffic Police Department and coordinated with the criminal investigation force and the Tay Hieu Ward Police to provide assistance. Only then did the driver get out of the car to cooperate.

Upon examination, the driver was identified as Le Van L. (born in 1979), residing in Tam Son village, Truong Lam commune, Thanh Hoa province. The breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.466 mg/L (the highest level).

During the process of drawing up the report, this person refused to sign, requested to see the relevant document, and asked for some inaccurate information to be recorded in the report. The task force invited a witness and proceeded to draw up a report of administrative violations, temporarily confiscate the driver's license, and seal the vehicle to be taken to a temporary holding location as per regulations.

According to regulations, driving a car with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 0.4 mg/L will result in a fine of 30-40 million VND, suspension of the driver's license for 22-24 months, and temporary impoundment of the vehicle for up to 7 days.
