The budding moment
In the 2018 season, Thai Bao Trung was one of the SLNA players who was loaned to Phu Dong Club to play in the third division. Playing for this young team, the Nghe An player managed to leave a special mark. That was the match between Phu Dong and Tu Son Bac Ninh in the final round of the 2018 third division.
In the 88th minute of the match, in a quick counter-attack by the home team, Bao Trung moved very cleverly to penetrate the opponent's penalty area. After a delicate control, Bao Trung had a decisive shot to score for the home team.
The beautiful goal of the young striker from Nghe An brought a 3-2 victory to Phu Dong Club. Overwhelmed with emotion, Bao Trung did not hesitate to take off his shirt and run across the field to celebrate as if he was celebrating a new championship. That moment reminded many people of the image of Le Cong Vinh after scoring against Thailand in the final match of the AFF Cup 2008 at My Dinh Stadium.
This victory was not enough for Phu Dong to be promoted to the second division. But for Bao Trung, that goal was the most memorable moment of his first professional match.
The low note of Trung "son"
It can be said that the process of developing the player from Thanh Chuong encountered many difficulties. Bao Trung did not win any significant youth titles although every time he was on the field, Trung "son" scored goals like clockwork and he was always considered one of the most promising young talents.
The 2018 National U21 Tournament held in Hue was a sad memory for Bao Trung and U21 SLNA. Coach Nguyen Van Tien's team was eliminated in the group stage, and Bao Trung did not even get to play an official match.

The sadness has not stopped for Trung “son”. In the two following tournaments, the National Sports University and the National U19, he did not have many opportunities to show himself. The reason is said to be because Trung’s health at that time did not meet the professional requirements of the coaching staff.
And a great gift from teacher Duc Thang
Although he did not prove much in the youth tournament, Trung "con" was among dozens of young players that SLNA's first team brought up to train in preparation for V.League 2019.
Even more surprisingly, Bao Trung and two other names, Le Thanh Lam and Nguyen Ba Duc, were retained in the end. These three players will be among the factors of SLNA preparing for the 2019 season.
At SLNA, Bao Trung is nicknamed Trung “con”. Despite his physical disadvantage, Bao Trung possesses skillful and extremely graceful legs. In Trung “con”, people see the shadow of Phan Van Duc - a senior who is now a pillar of the Vietnam National Team.

Like Van Duc, Trung “son” can play football with both feet. A teacher once said: “Trung has a habit of scoring with his left foot but uses his right foot to pass the ball. Trung's tactical vision is also very special. Usually when receiving the ball, Trung "little" does not take much time to observe, he can immediately use his right foot or, when necessary, his left foot to handle it appropriately when the opponent deliberately approaches.
In the recent training sessions, Bao Trung was assigned to play as a winger. With a very good left foot and an intelligent, minimal-touch playing style, the "youngest boy" has often made life difficult for his senior goalkeepers.
It can be said that the fact that Bao Trung was promoted to the first team by coach Duc Thang was a big surprise to many people. Some people think that this was a hasty decision because Bao Trung still has many physical limitations. It is very possible that SLNA coach saw in Bao Trung the ability to use technique to cover up physical weaknesses like Phan Van Duc before.
