The Kazan Helicopter Plant, a subsidiary of the Russian Helicopters Corporation, was established 75 years ago, on September 4, 1940, by decree of the Soviet People's Commissar for Aviation No. 387 establishing the Leningrad Aircraft Plant.

Currently, the factory is producing Mi-17 and Mi-38 helicopters (an upgraded version of the famous Mi-8 helicopter) and the new Ansat helicopter. With 7,000 engineers and employees, the factory's current capacity is 40-50 aircraft per year, compared to its maximum capacity of 110 aircraft per year.
