Typhoon No. 5, which directly hit the province, had a significant impact on people's lives and was the main reason for the 2.7% increase in the consumer price index (CPI) in September 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
In September, a series of storms affected production areas, reducing market supply. Consequently, food prices increased due to shortages.
According to Nghe An Statistics, the consumer price index in September 2025 increased by 0.37% compared to the previous month and by 2.7% compared to the same period last year.
Of the 11 main groups of goods and services, 8 groups saw price increases compared to the previous month: Housing, electricity, water and construction materials increased by 0.70%; Transportation increased by 0.59%; Food and catering services increased by 0.51%; Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.20%; Beverages and tobacco increased by 0.06%; Other goods and services increased by 0.06%; Clothing, hats and footwear increased by 0.02%; and Education increased by 0.02%.

There are 3 product groups that neither increased nor decreased compared to the previous month, including: Household equipment and appliances; Medicines and medical services; and Postal and telecommunications services.
On average, in the first nine months of 2025, the consumer price index increased by 2.03% compared to the same period of the previous year. Eight out of eleven commodity groups saw increases, including: Medicines and medical services (up 13.32%); Other goods and services (up 4.89%); Housing, electricity, water, fuel and building materials (up 3.78%); Food and food services (up 2.93%); Culture, entertainment and tourism (up 1.37%); Clothing, hats and footwear (up 1.33%); Beverages and tobacco (up 0.97%); and Household equipment and appliances (up 0.75%).
Three out of eleven commodity groups saw a decrease: Postal and telecommunications services decreased by 0.3%; Education decreased by 0.76%; and Transportation decreased by 5.01%.

The gold price index in September 2025 increased by 7.64% compared to the previous month and by 54.65% compared to the same period last year. The average increase for the first nine months of 2025 was 48.05% compared to the same period last year.
The US dollar index rose 0.46% compared to the previous month and 5.58% year-on-year. The average for the first nine months of 2025 was a 2.94% year-on-year increase.
