Currently, Nghe An is one of the provinces that is managing and paying regular and one-time allowances to people with great contributions nationwide, with nearly 78,000 beneficiaries, with a monthly payment of over 117 billion VND. Among them, there are 20 veteran revolutionary cadres, 201 pre-uprising cadres, 162 heroic Vietnamese mothers, 23 heroes of the armed forces, 24,425 wounded soldiers, 10,788 sick soldiers, 16,133 people infected with toxic chemicals... |
Along with the full and timely implementation of preferential subsidies for people with meritorious services to the country, in recent years, the work of caring for, supporting and helping people with meritorious services to improve their lives has been regularly paid attention to and implemented by Party committees and authorities at all levels and has achieved positive results. Although the economic conditions of the province are still difficult, Nghe An always allocates a reasonable amount of funds to implement policies for people with meritorious services, especially in supporting the construction of gratitude houses; upgrading and repairing houses for people with meritorious services who have difficulty in housing; upgrading and repairing martyrs' cemeteries; searching for, excavating and gathering the graves of martyrs who died in Laos and cemeteries in the area.
July has come, all classes of people in the province have again given good feelings and meaningful gifts to families who have contributed to the revolution. These days, the newly repaired gratitude house of war invalid Nguyen Trong Canh (born in 1948) in block 14, Nghi Huong ward (Cua Lo town) has received many delegations from all levels of government, departments, and organizations coming to visit, encourage, and give gifts. After completing his mission in the southern battlefield, Mr. Canh returned to his hometown with blind eyes, paralyzed limbs, and the inability to work after stepping on a mine during the campaign to liberate Hue city in March 1975. However, in the gratitude house built in 1995, his belief in life remains intact as it was when he "cut through Truong Son to save the country, with his heart full of hope for the future..." Because he still has his family to rely on, and the care of party committees, government, organizations, and neighbors. When the house was degraded, he received an additional 40 million VND from local authorities and organizations to renovate and hand over the house in early July.

This July is also an opportunity for youth unions at all levels to strengthen propaganda for union members and young people about the morality of drinking water and remembering its source, about the work of gratitude. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thom - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, said: Since June, the Provincial Youth Union has developed a plan for gratitude activities towards the anniversary of July 27. Accordingly, the Provincial Youth Union requires all levels of the Youth Union to organize propaganda activities about the history and significance of War Invalids and Martyrs Day; visit and give gifts to families of war invalids and martyrs, relatives of martyrs' families, people with meritorious services to the revolution; organize voluntary health care activities such as medical examination and treatment, and free medicine distribution for families with preferential treatment policies and families in difficult areas... Along with that are environmental sanitation activities, repair, embellishment, creating clean and beautiful landscapes at cemeteries, martyrs' monuments, historical and cultural relics; helping victims of Agent Orange; lighting candles in gratitude at martyrs' cemeteries...

Comrade Nguyen Bang Toan - Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs affirmed: "Repaying gratitude", "When drinking water, remember its source" is the responsibility of the whole community and society so that the spiritual and material life of those with meritorious services is more complete and warmer. Therefore, in the coming time, all levels, sectors, organizations and people of all walks of life in the province will continue to join hands to take care of war invalids, martyrs and those with meritorious services to ease the pain of loss for the martyrs' families, contributing to taking better care of their spiritual and material life. Doing this well will not only promote the tradition and morality of our nation but also make an important contribution to stabilizing the security and political situation, developing the economy and ensuring social security".
On the occasion of the 69th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2016), the province organized a delegation of outstanding people with meritorious services of the province to visit the capital Hanoi to pay their respects and report their merits to Uncle Ho, visit the K9 relic site; the revolutionary base of Tuyen Quang province...; organized delegations of provincial leaders to offer incense and flowers at the Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery, the Road 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery (Quang Tri province); the Vietnam - Laos Martyrs' Cemetery (Anh Son district); Truong Bon historical relic site (Do Luong district); Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Square (Hung Nguyen district); visited and presented gifts to units working in caring for and nurturing war invalids, meritorious people and families of outstanding meritorious people in the province. |
