Workers' Month 2026: A grand celebration for union members and workers.

Workers' Month (May every year) has long been a peak period of activity initiated by the Trade Union organization to honor, care for the material and spiritual lives, and protect the legitimate rights of workers.

2026 is a year of many important milestones for the Trade Union organization. Specifically, it is the year of the 14th National Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, for the term 2026-2031; and also the year of reviewing the 5-year implementation of Resolution 02-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

Simultaneously, this year also marks the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026); and the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Decree stipulating May 1 as an official holiday in our country. With these significant meanings, the 2026 Workers' Month, developed by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Labor Union, will feature many practical and engaging activities under the theme: "Vietnamese Workers: Innovation and Creativity, Enhancing Labor Productivity."

At the provincial level, a ceremony commemorating the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026) will be held, combined with the launch of the Workers' Month and the Occupational Safety and Health Action Month in 2026, along with several activities such as: Visiting union members and workers who have suffered work accidents or occupational diseases; supporting the construction of "Trade Union Shelters"; awarding Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee to workers and laborers who achieved outstanding results in 2025; and awarding prizes for the "Understanding the Resolutions of the Provincial Party Congress and the 20th Congress of the Nghe An Provincial Trade Union, term 2025 - 2030" competition.

Simultaneously, union members and workers at enterprises throughout the province will simultaneously raise the flag and sing the national anthem on the first Monday morning of May (May 4, 2026) to celebrate the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day, and on the Monday morning (May 18, 2026) to celebrate the 136th anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh.

Also on this occasion, the Provincial Labor Union will organize the first "Nghe An Workers Following Uncle Ho's Teachings" award ceremony.

At the grassroots level, trade unions focus on implementing key activities during Workers' Month, creating widespread impact and contributing to improving the skills, character, work style, and integration capacity of workers.

Simultaneously, implement programs to honor and commend workers with outstanding achievements in labor and production, who have many effective initiatives and innovations applied at the unit; build a forum for workers to express their thoughts and aspirations, promote dialogue between workers and employers, and contribute to production stability. Strengthen propaganda and mobilization efforts to develop union membership and establish grassroots trade unions.

In addition, visits and encouragement were provided to union members and workers facing difficult circumstances, those who had suffered work accidents or occupational diseases, and cultural and sports activities were organized. The flag-raising ceremony and collective singing of the national anthem continued to be maintained.

The 2026 Workers' Month was implemented with many practical activities, not only caring for the lives of workers but also affirming the role and position of the Trade Union organization. Through this, it contributed to strengthening trust and creating motivation for union members and workers to promote innovation and creativity, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.
