(Baonghean.vn) - The 2022 Youth Month, themed "Creative Youth," is nearing its end with a series of practical and meaningful activities and projects that have been recognized and highly appreciated by the community. This has gradually affirmed the role of the Youth Union and its members in volunteer activities for the community, contributing to building a stronger and more prosperous homeland. Baonghean.vn had a conversation with Mr. Le Van Luong - Member of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union - about the achievements of the 2022 Youth Month.

PV:In your opinion, what makes this year's Youth Month more special than in previous years?

Mr. Le Van Luong:The annual Youth Month is an opportunity for young people to fully demonstrate their roles and responsibilities towards society and the community, thereby maximizing their pioneering and volunteer spirit, contributing to the successful implementation of socio-economic development tasks in each locality and unit.

However, this year's Youth Month is also a time for preparing and organizing the grassroots-level Youth Union Congresses, thus it is seen as an opportunity to organize vibrant emulation activities with many practical and meaningful projects and tasks to celebrate the Youth Union Congresses at all levels, leading up to the 18th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Nghe An province and the 12th National Youth Union Congress, term 2022 - 2027.

Simultaneously, in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, activities during Youth Month 2022 were organized with a focus on safe and flexible adaptation to ensure effective disease prevention and control. This included continuing to raise awareness among the public and young people about complying with safety measures to prevent and control the disease. Alongside this, activities also aimed to promote the initiative, volunteer spirit, and expertise of youth union members to participate in carrying out political tasks at the local and unit levels.

PV:Of the targets set for Youth Month, which do you think has been achieved most effectively?

Mr. Le Van Luong:During this year's Youth Month, volunteer activities for social welfare and serving the people were implemented synchronously and effectively by youth union members. Accordingly, young people throughout the province mobilized resources and built 5 charitable houses and 29 playgrounds and recreational areas for children and teenagers in disadvantaged areas of the province.

In addition to the previously set targets, the Youth Union at all levels proactively implemented many more projects and activities to meet the practical needs of localities and units, such as: 35 out of 35 units implementing the model of medical staff supporting the treatment of F0 cases; young doctors and nurses volunteering to provide health advice, medical examinations, medication, and advice on hygiene and disease prevention, and food safety for nearly 1,600 people; donating national flags to fishermen going out to sea; organizing the "Voluntary Blood Donation" program; and the "Bowl of Compassion" program with more than 1,200 bowls of porridge to support poor patients being treated at hospitals throughout the province.

PV:As the province is embarking on the National Target Program for building new rural areas in the 2021-2025 period, what outstanding activities have the youth of Nghe An undertaken in contributing to socio-economic development, building new rural areas and civilized urban areas during Youth Month?

Mr. Le Van Luong:Youth Union branches at all levels throughout the province have enthusiastically implemented activities in response to the movement "Youth joining hands to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" with youth projects and tasks linked to the practical needs of social life in localities and units.

In particular, youth union members and young people simultaneously launched campaigns to renovate, repair, and clear over 54 km of rural roads; built 3 "Lighting Up Rural Roads" projects using solar energy; constructed "Youth Flag Road" projects; built and renovated 29 children's playgrounds and 3 volleyball courts. At the same time, they built 238 "Youth Tree Planting" and "Youth Nursery" projects; launched campaigns to dredge nearly 30 km of irrigation canals in the fields, and addressed 86 environmental hotspots. They also built "Youth Lotus Pond" models and "Self-Flowing Water Systems" projects. Furthermore, they constructed 163 "Mural Road" projects.

In particular, the youth throughout the province organized the planting of over 54,000 trees in conjunction with environmental protection models, combating plastic waste, reducing the use of plastic bags, protecting water sources, and preserving the rivers of their homeland. At the same time, they established volunteer teams to build new rural areas, assisting people with farming and livestock techniques, and applying technology in the production, business, and consumption of agricultural products.

Representatives from the Provincial Youth Union and Nghi Loc District Youth Union participated in planting trees with youth union members from Nghi Long commune as part of the "Youth Tree Road" model; Youth union members from Tuong Duong district painted a mural on a road; built a playground for children; and implemented a youth nursery model in Nghia Yen commune (Nghia Dan). PV:So, what about the goal of building a strong Youth Union and expanding the front of unity and gathering young people, sir?

Mr. Le Van Luong:To contribute to the successful implementation of the year's theme "Building a strong Youth Union in terms of organization" during Youth Month, the entire province organized the admission of 3,250 new members to the "Youth Union membership class to welcome the Youth Union Congresses at all levels, the 18th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Nghe An province, term 2022 - 2027". At the same time, a high-intensity emulation campaign was launched: Youth Union members competed to achieve outstanding results and strived to become Party members, with the aim of recommending outstanding members for the Party to consider for admission.

More importantly, the Youth Union at all levels has intensified its efforts in disseminating and implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, as well as the State's laws and regulations. Simultaneously, it has effectively carried out educational work through three key areas: raising political and ideological awareness among Youth Union members and young people about the Party; defending the Party's ideological foundation; and preventing and combating moral and lifestyle degradation, "self-evolution," and "self-transformation" within the Party through appropriate methods.

PV:To build upon the achievements of Youth Month, what tasks do you think the youth of Nghe An need to undertake in the coming period?

Mr. Le Van Luong:From the beginning of the year, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union set key objectives for the work of the Youth Union and the youth movement in the province. These objectives aim to ensure sustainability and effectiveness in action programs. Therefore, after Youth Month, young people throughout the province need to continue to maintain the objectives that have been set.

Specifically, we will continue to strengthen the work of educating, propagating, and fostering revolutionary ideals, ethics, and lifestyles for young people; focusing on innovation in content, form, and methods of education and propaganda. Next, we need to focus on directing the Youth Union Congresses at all levels, aiming towards the 18th Provincial Youth Union Congress, term 2022-2027, to be completed on schedule and with high quality. At the same time, we will effectively implement the three revolutionary action movements of the Youth Union as well as the three major programs of the Youth Union; focusing on promoting the role of the Youth Union organization and its members, along with the political system, in participating in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic; and connecting and finding jobs for Youth Union members affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Finally, it is necessary to enhance the role of the Youth Union in the activities of the Vietnam Youth Federation; expand the solidarity of the youth front in special areas, and effectively organize and implement the activities of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization, taking good care of young people throughout the province. Especially in the context of society being negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Youth Union needs to accelerate the application of digital transformation in the implementation of activities and programs in a substantive and synchronized manner to improve the quality and effectiveness of its work.
